For this reason alone I love the squiggle. I dont care about its flaws, i like to live in fantasy land.

This weeks prediction?

11.18 - 10.8 no doubt.

I'd take 1.78 if it meant we won.

This year we have beaten Collingwood in Melbourne, the first time in 12 years, & won at the MCG. All that we really have left in terms of streaks to stop is a derby and beating the Swans, both of which we should have two more goes at this season, but god I hope we roll them this week.

Im barracking for freo. Doesn't matter where we finish aslong as it's top 4. Richmond losing secures that. Come finals time, home ground advantage doesn't mean much this year with freo being in the top 4. At some stage, we will have to beat Hawks at the G. Playing in Sydney would suck. More so if raining. So go Freo hey.

I feel like I've spent the whole year being optimistic, but terrified that the run of good form was about to collapse. But each week, we've continued to play good footy - not just scrape past a poor opposition on the day.

We are now in a position that we would really have to crap the bed to miss top 4. With out percentage, we're effectively 3 games ahead of Richmond now. So even if lose to all of Syd, Haw and Frem - Richmond would still need to go undefeated to jump us. And Richmond still have games against Fre, Haw, Adel (in Adelaide), Coll and Norf.

So I'm unleashing the optimist - we're gunning for Top 2.

Not sure if this is the thread for it, but just had a bit of a look through our goal kickers for the year. We've got 8 players in double figures for goals scored, and only 3 of our best 25 that haven't scored a goal, Shcofield, Ellis & Bennell (those last 2 have played very few games)

Hawks have 7 players in double digits and 4 players who haven't scored a goal (also defenders)

Doens't mean much, and we all know stats can be useless (Hi Nic:D) but it seems this year we're getting much more of a spread of goal kickers, and on a continual basis, not just a one off game.

I'll be back later with some more pointless facts.

More stats: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2015-07-22/quarter-by-quarter-the-best-moments-for-your-club

What we have kicked in each quarter this year, and our goalkicking accuracy.
WCE 1st Quarters: 49.49 (50%)
WCE 2nd Quarters: 50.60 (45%)
WCE 3rd Quarters: 68.43 (61%)
WCE 4th Quarters: 68.48 (59%)

Our second quarters are our most inaccurate. Our accuracy then goes up 16% after the half time break.

I swear this was the other way around a couple of years ago. We used to start 3rd quarters awfully.

Have seen a pattern of us blasting a quick few goals in the first, relaxing in the second and then coming stronger in the third and fourth. I'm sure it's a fitness thing.

Back to the glory days of 05 and 06 when I was confident that if we were even within touch of another team at half-time, we'd run over them.

Those were the days! I distinctly remember being behind by 5 goals at half time and thinking we got this.

Best result for us this week: we win and Freo win. Keeps Richmond away in case we crap the bed, and hopefully keeps Freo (dare I say it) off our side of the finals draw in the tiny chance we sneak into the GF..........

With both us and Freo likely to be in the top 4, it makes it very interesting for considering possible paths to the GF. For example, if Freo finish 2nd and we finish 3rd, our 'away' Qualifying Final would be in Perth. A win there and we'd be through to a home prelim.

Or if it's Freo, Hawthorn, Us in the top 3, we could lose the Qual final against Hawthorn, but then get through to a prelim against Freo in Perth.

Effectively, if Freo finish top 2 and we finish 3rd or 4th, we get a massive boost from Freo's home game. Of course, it also works the other way if we finish Top 2 - our home ground advantage is gone if / when we match up against Freo.

Yes, go Freo!
Hawks are scary. We have 0 chance against the Hawks at the MCG, same with Freo/Sydney, but I think they'd be beatable interstate so I'm hoping Hawks end up being knocked out in an interstate preliminary final (and best chance of that happening would be them not finishing top 2). I would love us/freo to finish 1-2 in some order. Unfortunately, not counting on that happening

Freo will beat the Tiges today. No way Ross will let them lose twice to them.

We just need to beat Sydney and keep on winning.
I'm happy for us to lose to the Hawks in two weeks. Normally you lose to a team only to beat them the next time you play them. ie Us and Sydney in 05 and 06.

Supposedly that's it for him for the season.
Agree. It's Ablett and Gold Coast's season is done. Time for the cotton wool treatment.

Hopefully we make a smart decision also and give McGovern next week including a plane ride off.
