Starting to come round to the idea that every team plays each other once and then the top, middle and bottom 6 teams split up and play each other once with the bottom 6 teams playing for higher draft picks
I always thought this was pretty good great idea.
But for memory, this was proposed by the league a few years ago but they dropped it.
I think it was Dillon McLaughlin who said the S.A. And W.A. Clubs wanted to keep their second derby.
Of course now with Tassie coming the possibility recedes.

Wonder if that changes given that we're seeing more and more often interstate clubs can pack stadiums eg. Us vs freo and Crows, magpies last night

I don’t get why people are complaining about geelongs soft draw. History has proven that the hardest route to the grand final usually leads to the most success. It’s probably why we won the flag last year, because our path to winning the flag in the previous years were easier. Geelong aren’t match hardened and they won’t be until the first week in finals. Meanwhile, our last 6 weeks have been finals like intensity. That’s why our results have been great against the top teams, because we’ve become accustomed to big games. I would rather be in our position than in geelongs

Yeah teams that finish top 4 never win the premiership....

It's more important this year because how tight it is. Very unusual for their to be only a game or 2 between second place and ninth

Looks like we'll be 3rd playing away to Geelong if we win next week or 7th or 8th if we lose depending on the winner of the Bulldogs and freo and will play away to gold coast or gws

Provided we don't cop more injuries, I like our chances against Geelong at the MCG. It will probably be another ripping game.

1 round to go.... I guesstimated the Bulldogs percentage and gave them the win v Eagles(56 points up at H/T)

Crows- 68 - 141% > Kangaroos.
Cats- 64 - 140.7% > Tigers.
Lions- 62 - 114.3% > Hawks.
Pies- 60 - 123.1% > Demons.
Hawks- 60 - 122.7% > Lions.
Giants- 60 - 115.5% > Saints.
Dockers- 60 - 108.6% > Bulldogs.
Bulldogs- 56 - 140% > Dockers.
__________
Suns 56 - 121.2% > Port, Bombers.

Win we will finish 3rd and play the Cats at the MCG in a Qualifying Final.

Lose and we highly likely finish either 7th or 8th depending on the result of the Dogs v Dockers game.

Dogs win, IMO we play the Giants away in an Elimination Final.
Dockers win, IMO we play the Suns away in an Elimination Final.

Huge game again next week. Feel like we’ve been saying that every week for the last 8, but I reckon this team, given our injuries this year will need that double chance buffer.

Can throw it all out there in a qualifying final knowing we have the safety net of an extra week if needed, which hopefully gives our injured guys a better chance at a) getting back and b) bit more rhythm.

Can’t see us winning it unless we beat Hawks next week. It’s a mini GF for me.

100%, next Sunday finals start for us IMO.

We are going to have a team run out with 20% of our best missing…it’s going to be a tough challenge and a tough finals series.

Especially against sides with relatively short injury lists with at most one or two best 23 missing. Geelong essentially have one injury, and it's to their development ruck.

The Hawks game next week is going to be a big challenge. Get over that one and then have a well earned break.

Do we have any idea yet how serious Jarrod Berry's shoulder is, I assume he wont be scanned until tomorrow.

Fages seemed pretty sure Kai Lohmann would be available for selection for the Hawks game.

Hugh not in any doubt carrying that knee?? Assuming (hoping) it’s only Bez and Eric to add to what we’re already missing. Hoping that week off helps these guys recover as best they can and set themselves to get through hopefully 3 (max 4) games. We just need to find a way next Sunday, whatever it takes.

Hawks going pretty well really. Crows game could have been a win. Dockers a few weeks ago too. They have been sneaky good since that bad loss to the pies in June. They had lost 3 on the trot at that point. 8-2 since then with their only losses close ones mentioned above away to Adelaide and freo.

They are thinnest in the midfield where they are still missing Day, but we are now down Neale and Berry.

Forward line is what worries me. Gunston in insane form - Payne destroyed him last time. Will be Lester I suspect this time. Interesting to note after being managed carefully initially, he hasn't had a break since the bye. Doesn't seem to be affecting him yet!
Harris on Chol. Gardiner on Lewis looms as the mismatch. And Answerth did the job on Watson last time - but at least we have starce back from that game.

They haven't played at the gabba since what COVID in 2020? Might make a difference. Sides like Collingwood look very comfortable there as they play every year.

But they do travel well I think. Probably a product of launceston base.

Really hope the crowd is big and hostile. They have a lot of support as evident in that port final last year, but I don't imagine many supporters were booking a flight and ticket when they needed to 6 weeks ago. Make some noise if you are lucky enough to go!

If we lose to Hawthorn & if the Bulldogs beat Fremantle & GWS beats St Kilda, we would probably finish 7th & play an away final against GWS.

If we lose to Hawthorn & if Fremantle beats the Bulldogs & if GWS beats St Kilda, we would probably finish 8th & play an Elimination Final against Hawthorn at the MCG. Much preferable option than playing GWS I reckon.

But naturally we want to win this week & play Geelong in the Qualifying Final in week one of the finals.
