Barring any selection surprises, Mitchell will become the 230th Eagles player this weekend. He'll also be the oldest to make his debut - he's three days older than Petrie. (Next oldest is Rob Wiley who had just turned 32, more than 2 years younger than Mitchell and Petrie). Mitchell and Petrie will be the two oldest Eagles ever, surpassing Chris Mainwaring who was 33years 210days when he played his last game. They'll also be the most experienced - no Eagle has ever had more than 300 games of V/AFL experience. Petrie is a few games ahead of Mitchell in that regard.

In more random facts, he'll be the seventh player to appear for WCE after having worn the brown and gold (behind Ellis, Chick, Collica, Taylor, Harding and Malaxos), the sixth player to wear the #1 guernsey (behind Brown, Gardiner, Heady, Pyke and W.Matera) and the second Sam.

Ten games into the season, how is he tracking? Is the team better when he in or is he keeping a young bloke from getting game?
