Seriously though, he got through the season without any long lay offs or soft tissue concerns and hopefully this ankle injury is just minor so he should be ready to put in a big pre-season.

Yeah he was quite before going off, but he made things happen around him, constantly crashed packs and generally was a big positive for the team structure. We definitely looked worse off without him.

He got up & down the ground well I thought, definately fitter than the last time I watched him play.

& while I am not out to defend him, the congested nature of the game & wind conditions were never going to suit someone like Francis.

At least the timing of this injury is pretty good all things considered. He wasn't likely to get a game in the finals and he got through pretty much the entire VFL season and it won't delay his next preseason.

Lets hope for a better year for Francis next year.

I'm no draft expert but yes you're right but that was in 1994, he was re-drafted in 1996 @ pick 6 from what i understand
