Still love watching big red run around. But I hope you guys don't fall into the Truck trap of playing him forward all the time.
So his best position is down back? Can he hold down a key post marking gorillas like Hawkins?

I think he can. As Howard Moon said his best position is the 3rd man up style but I still was surprised that he wasn't at least given a shot at Hawkins last night.

Should have started in the backline. Up forward he missed a couple of marks but the ball barely went up his end so not like he got a lot of chances.

Thought he did well enough when moved back considering the state of the game and I would look to keep him in the side even if both Rampe and T.Mccartin come back in against GWS.

Thanks for the input Howard Moon and boncer34 . It is clear Aaron was a well liked person at your Dons.

He was played forward in our Ressies as much because we had no one else as to see how he’d go. I recall him saying his preference to playing down back. To his credit Aaron made a reasonable fist of it in a 2s team with negligible seniors experience.

I had him in our 10 least worse players in what was a complete debacle. He did not drop his head and kept plugging away.

Hopefully Longmire moves from Mule Mode to Horse Sense Mode and plays him in defence this week.

Thought he grew into the game and was good today
Yeah he didn't look especially comfortable early but like you said really worked his way into the game. Just really needs to play more games so that he can learn our backline systems and how to play with his teammates.
Still too early to know if he will make it with us but don't think he has done much wrong really.

Mccartin getting over to him with a massive hug when it looked like he had saved the game for us was a great sign I thought. Got a lot of talent it would be great if he put it all together at the swans - not least because it would really boil the piss of some Essendon supporters that their club was too inept to get him playing decent footy.

Not really, nearly every single Essendon supporter wants franga to succeed. He went through a really horrible time with the passing of his father, being interstate and having mental health challenges early on in his career and was extremely home sick. He fought through it all and then the injuries kept piling up as he came good.

If you’re gonna throw shade, at least have the facts.

I'm sure most will be happy to see him succeed but when he does it will be an indictment on essendons ability to develop talented prospects into actually good players. Don't think anyone will resent him, but hopefully his success breeds some resentment for the essendon footy club's woeful administration.

Did you even read my post? He was drafted in the same year as Parish who is tracking just fine. Have a bit of
Respect for Aaron’s personal journey.

Confidence is what will make him a key component of our team going forward.
Robbie Fox is an example of that.

Longmire did not build Fox's confidence. Took until last year before the Coach recognised what fans did.

Francis strikes me as a confidence player. Reckon like Foxxy he will repay the confidence and become a more than solid B+ player.

Fox played 14 in 2020, 15 in 2021 and 14 in 2022. Each year his contribution increased (disposals 144>182>241).

Considering he kept getting picked Horse did help build his confidence, but most importantly, I think it’s just a case that Fox continued to improve his game and contribution to the team rather than the coaches having no idea compared to the fans…..

How many times was he dropped?
