Past #10: Ben Cunnington - will retire from the AFL after * game - 238 games/95+ goals/2x Syd Barker Medalist/Shinboner - thanks for everything Cunners

He has to be the only player in history who you actually look forward to being surrounded by blokes with his back to the boundary line.

Cos you know he’s about to do something obscene to them.

He's clearly the best hanballer in the game.

Just had a look again at the North v Port match, and some of Cunnington's vision and disposal execution was Greg Williams level genius in this match.

The look away, outside knuckle hand ball on the boundary, and the deft foot pass under pressure to put Anderson in to space, were all time elite.

Unpopular opinion but he nearly cost us the game today in Thompson’s final match.
Win may mean nothing but it’s these sorts of performances he needs to iron out.
My point is he is allowed a dirty day or two but he gets too many.

Absolutely checked out and was in holiday mode along with Jy but his last two months have been average.

Needs to be more consistent and then he’ll get the accolades he deserves.
He fires against * and Brisbane and we play finals.

Should have been AA this year but won’t be

Not just nearly cost us the match through poor efforts, he actually selfishly let his stupid sniping game contribute as well. Went down a rung on the respect levels for me.

Hard to argue with this. He needs a psychologist before a skills coach.

14 disposals, 2 tackles, 2 clearances. You know you had a s**t day when Polec beat you on basically every hard ball stat.

When he is bad, he is shithouse and the tide moves quicker than he does between the arcs.

That being said, I think Mad Monday must have started early for Ben. Shaw and the club need to prime him to try and be the best in the comp next year and they have to address his weaknesses.

Geez we love to eat our own around here.

He had an off day in a dead rubber after carrying the team for the first 2/3 of the season.

We currently have serious player shortfalls that are beyond the scope of some folks understanding.
