his best attribute to me isn't his goal craftiness or foot speed, it's his forward entries. he often choses the best option and doesn't just boot it long. makes a huge difference with our entries.

Nice work

Now many rising stars did GWS have in 2012 (they're first year)? Have any clubs had 5 rising stars in a year?

I think we had 5 in 93,

Giants had like 8.

Someone will have to fact check those though.

Hopefully gets the rising star award this round. Had a great game today.
Fantastic call.

Is this man Lachie Neale in disguise? Cleanest hands at ground level at the club. He’s not doing too much front and centre stuff up forward but his work up the ground is elite. I’m wondering how long until we make the midfield move.

Really liked his game. Has a low centre of gravity, looked genuinely quick and was clean. If we can get a couple of him to work long term with Caddy and May I think we are in a good place.

Spending years desperately trying to find a quality small forward, finding one, and then playing them in the midfield is classic essington

Yep.

Keep him forward and let him form that duo with Caddy.

Having said that, long term I can see him attending 2-3 centre bounces a game and then shooting forward much like Papley does.

Reality is if a small forward or half forward is good enough, they move to the midfield or play significant midfield minutes. Pickett, Rankine, Bolton, also Butters and Gulden were drafted as half forwards, even Watson is starting to get minutes in there. It is natural progression for talented players who can make things happen to be around the ball as much as possible.

We have two talented small forwards coming into the team next year and it's potentially where Bewick will start. We are also right in the zone for Dovaston this year and the midfielders likely available are not very good prospects. Given the injuries to Martin and Setterfield, we will have a far greater need for players to run through the midfield than we will for small forwards. Especially if Hobbs and Tsatas are moved on like they should be.

Those players aren’t playing for sides desperately short of quality small forwards though

nah he's right we should drop him cos he's so shit as a first year player being unable to tackle anyone else on the ground. consistently worthless and a waste of our first round pick last season.

If he was any good he’d do the tackling the rest of the team isn’t doing while he’s at it

he's quite a good 'size' already. not sure where he's going to add it?
If he had some support and was not the only forward chasing it could help him.

Not worried about him but he does need to put on a couple kegs over the off season. Probably one in particular that will benefit from a new S&C boffin.

Pulled out of a couple of contests last night, one in particular stood out. I hope that's the last time we see that sort of thing.

He is probably just below the level I thought he would be but has played more games and is playing in a side that is falling apart week by week. Small forward is a tough gig in a reasonable side. It is bloody hard in a poor side. Generally the cream of the small forwards operate in the top 8 sides.

Not sure what some of you are expecting of a first year small forward?

When you have guys like Gresham and Perkins who both look like they're running in quick sand and are the main culprits as to why the ball comes out of our forward line so easily.

Yet lets pot a young bloke who is the only one that chases and harasses consistantly, FMD some people are pathetic.
