Round 9, 2020 (versus Carlton): O'Meara willed Hawthorn to victory against Carlton. In the first quarter especially it seemed that it was O'Meara against the Blues midfield singlehandedly such was the influence he had in the first quarter. Gradually his teammates woke up and together they fought back to overcome a three goal deficit at quarter time (thanks to two late goals to Hawthorn in the quarter) to win by 31 points. Interestingly, O'Meara did not poll a Brownlow medal vote, but in my view, there's no doubt that Hawthorn would not have won that game except for the efforts exerted by O'Meara in the first quarter.
Shocker
Round 4, 2020 (versus North Melbourne): Possibly a debateable suggestion, but there's no hiding the fact that O'Meara was fairly inconspicuous by his usual standards against the Kangaroos, a game only just won by the Hawks. O'Meara had only 11 disposals for the match, which was only just over half his usual output and consequently wasn't able to exert as much influence on the game as he would have liked.
