8) Paul Kelly's comeback
9) Max Hughtons tears at losing to Dogs by a point.
10) The Round 21 - Western Derby

Gee, this season has seemed to fly, but heaps has happened!

Id just ad the Port v Carlton game in Round 21 - that last 60 seconds were unbelievable -even watching it, knowing the result, I couldnt work out how Port could have won - but they did!

Had Paul Kelly hit a target in the last 10 seconds against Geelong last week it would have been as good a finish!

Alright here we go, here are mine:

1. 84 premiership points, what an effort. Just gotta keep going.
2. The loss: Sheeeez that hurt considering it was only for a record and nothing else, got a bit greedy.
3. Colonial stuff ups: Clash of the Titans, Colonial management v SOCOG for Balls up Kings.
4. James Hird's come back, a pleasure to behold.
5. Hird's pass to Ramanaskaus against Freo. mind boggling precision. If it was laser guided it couldn't have been more accurate.
6. Farmers nine in a half.
7.Carey and Bradley's longevity: Carey for the punishment he takes in the hardest possy there is and Bradley for his age, still being a topline player.
8. Stevens' brush with death and gutsy comeback.
9. The Johnson scalps: Jason - Blakey, Mark - Rehn (dopey shit tried to shirt front him, came off bad 2nd best).
10. The probing Heuskas interview, what a bloody sham! "The Game" should've said come in live or piss off. Oh and Adam you aint no "superstar".

Naturally there will be changes to this after 2/9/00, only hope their positive ones.

Cheers.

BOMBER BLITZ IN 2000!

Good topic !

1. Kouta V Carey at PP. There should be more of this.

2. First Quarter Bombers V North - talk about shell shocked supporters ! Hard to better.

3. Eagles V Dockers - had it all AND the underdogs won !

4. Chris Grant V Saints last quarter. Outstanding.

5. The Flood and How to Beat It. The ongoing challange.

6. Ahmat's goal - the springs went in the lounge couch after that. The kids were SO fired up, couldn't get them to bed !

7. Voss's goal V Pies at the Gabba. Of all the BIG goals of the year, that was the BIGGEST.

8. The return of the VFL - great fixtures ( North Ballarat V Collingwood ) and the return of the Fitzroy jumper.

9. Aboriginal Players - every club has ( or if they don't , should have ) GUN Aboriginal players who can turn games and turn on fans, ( Farmer, Burns, McLeod, O'Loughlin, Rioli, Long etc etc ), without thankfully a mindless stream of racist barracking ( I'll never forget the shameful abuse of Jimmy and Phil K. during their playing days ) - a debt to Nicky there. These guys add a totally new dimension to the game - and it all makes sense for our unique game. We should be proud of this.

10. And yes ... DOCKLANDS. The dark side revealed. At least we know what we're up against.

As a Geelong supporter, these are my top 10 higlights of the season.

1. Making the Finals - WOO HOO!

2. Mark Thompson, Brian Cook, Frank Costa, Alex Popescu, The Players and the Bendigo Bank - Love yous all!

*Special mention to Alex Popescu who only this week donated $1 million to the club. Now they will certainly make a profit, and reduce the debt by half.

3. The Systematic booing, taunting and harrassing of Leigh Colbert from EVERY Geelong supporter at Colonial Stadium in round 4. Even though we lost that game by less than a kick, that was the game we knew that we could match it with the top.

4. Defeating Adeliade in round 3 at Football Park for the first time ever. Made even sweeter because it was against Garry Ayres.

5. Defeating Adelaide at Shell Stadium the week after we were called 'Piss Weak' by a certain former player. This effectively finished Adelaide's season, and also introduced the AFL to our young guns, Spriggs, Clarke, Ling, Corey and C.Mooney.

6. Seeing the Torch go around the MCG. Surprisingly, I actually enjoyed it and felt pride that my team was playing in front of 75,000.

7. Not losing an interstate game. Never happened before, will probably never happen again.

8. The first half versus Essendon at Colonial Stadium in round 11.

9. Round 22 versus Sydney, top game, top contest and it secured a finals berth and a home state final.

10. Thrashing West Coast by 81 points at home. It sought of made up for years of anguish against them.

What a great post! Everything of note seems to be been mentioned so I will just limit my list to the top four St Kilda moments

1) Round 11
2) Round 17
3) Watching footy at Moorabbin again and seeing a few wins.
4) Nathan Burke thanking the supporters for their patience and loyalty after the game on Saturday night.

Sainter, I'm surprised.

I would have thought that round 17 was a bigger highlight for you than round 11. Even though round 11 was your first win.

What happened to the Draw against the Eagles?

You don't consider that a highlight? What about your reserves form? What about Barry Hall and the young kids you have bought up during the year?

For me,definately the misnomer that Max Hugdhton (sic) was crying after that St.Kilda loss.
He had just poured a water bottle over himself.
Hence the crocodile tears.

Very tough this year. Here goes

1. Coming from 40 odd points down to beat Port in showdown 7
2. Beating Richmond at Colonic. Great game.
(thats about it for the Crows)
3. Farmer's 9 in a 1/2
4. The punch up between the eagles & the dockers
5. Kouta
6. Paul Kelly's come back
7. James Hird's come back
8. Essendon's winning streak
9. Carlton winning streak
10. The AFL appologising

Essendon's 20 in a row
Carlton 13 on the trot (lets face it, they'd be raging fav's any other year)
Hirdy's comeback
Stevo's comeback
Kelly's comeback (phew that's enough comebacks!)
Ahmat's goal
Both SA clubs miss finals (good for footy!)

Rnd 20 Ess v Carl
Paul Salmon's 300th. Legend. Gentleman. ATG.
Wayne "I'm Sorry" Jackson apolagising to fans. I;d like to see MORE of that!

Gocatsgo,

You are right, there were a few more highlights but not many. I was just making the point of how hard this year has been.

I realise a lot of opposition supporters will just sit back and assume that we are so used to losing and therefore would not be hurting after a year like this. It has also annoyed me a little to see how devastated some people have acted after ONE loss. Try losing 19 times in a year.

Next week should be a great game in the VFL between our two sides. Particularly if your team happens to lose in the AFL on Friday night because it will give the supporters another opportunity to watch their side. We have 9 players eligible to return to the VFL team after playing the kangaroos so I will be pretty shattered if we can't win.

Onlooker,

I don't think you were looking very hard at all. If you could not see that Max was throwing water over his face to COVER UP the tears then you need to open up your eyes a little.

Personally I thought Channel 7's decision to zoom in on Maxie and keep the cameras on him was in bad taste. But the fact that the players were so visibly upset showed our supporters how much they were hurting and that is a good thing.

Since his first year in 1997 he has consistently put everything into his football, usually playing against much taller and stronger opponents. He is a passionate kind of player and on that fateful Friday night, he showed the rest of the league just how much.

I thought that the LIONS V KANGAPOOS game was pretty good (especially with the lions coming back from about 40 points down in the last quarter). I felt that we were cheated of a win because of umpiring decisions in the first half.

Also Leppitsch v w***ery was a good battle with Leppa kicking 4 on w***ery (bet thats never happened to him before!)

Can you believe that if we had beaten the KANGAPOOS in that game we would be fourth and they would be fifth with Geelong sixth?
