This is a perfect opportunity to bring in Redman who has been dominating the VFL - He can play defence and then push McKenna to the wing - At least Mckenna tries to hit a leading target rather than blindly bombing the ball in long.

just the way he walked off and the how the incident happened, it reminded me a bit of when a cyclist goes over their handle bars and breaks the collarbone, but yeah just conjecture
I actually did this a few years ago - unclipped going into a sprint on the roady (for no actual reason) and drove myself into the road. Was quite messy all round but i went shoulder first though not collarbone. Took a very long time to heal.

So not the collarbone, not the shoulder, not the AC joint... but the SC joint! Where the collarbone attaches to the sternum.

Surgery, and six weeks.

Further scans today have determined midfielder David Zaharakis will require surgery on his injured sternoclavicular joint.

The 28-year–old met with shoulder specialist Mr Greg Hoy this afternoon and it was determined surgery was the best solution.

It is expected Zaharakis will spend at least six weeks on the sideline as he recovers from the operation.

Zaharakis suffered the injury in the opening term of last Saturday’s Dreamtime at the ‘G.

Have given him some stick in the past but this is really unfortunate for him as he has been one of the senior players to make an effort to turn things around in the last 4 weeks by working harder in the weaker areas of his game.

I'm really glad to hear its not season over for Zaka. Good opportunity for us to try out some kids for 6-8 weeks until he gets back.

I assume he'll probably be able to keep up his fitness and running for the most part.

Could’ve been significantly worse so it’s a positive that it’s only 6 weeks. Wish Zaka a speedy recovery and hope to see him return to his best when he comes back.

As a supporter base we’ve been far too focused on the importance of individuals. One thing that Hawthorn and Sydney have managed to ingrain in their culture is the whole ‘replacement of one foot soldier with another’. I’ve been guilty of it too where the loss of Lloyd or Long is season over or the loss of Jobe in more recent times. And it’s easy to get pessimistic when Joe goes down and now Zaka. Their skill-set is undoubted and can help get us over the line at times but I’d love to see us in with a chance every week no matter who is missing. If a Redman comes in to the team and we bring the gamestyle we had against GWS, I can guarantee that we will go close against any team. Replace Zaka with Fyfe and we’d still lose by 10 goals if we brought the gamestyle we had against Richmond.

As a supporter I’m shattered because I love watching our skilled players perform but I prefer watching our team be consistently competitive and all I want from a Redman is for him to not just play his role but to bring something to our team that Zaka maybe couldn’t.

Its too bad, has been pretty good most games this year. Nothing wrong with the tackle. Bring in the Redman!!
I have more offence to the way martin lined up baguley. Absolutely intent on hurting him in the air. no way to protect himself. How this doesn't fall under the guise of protecting players has me ****ed
