Man this thread is over the top. He has lost touch in a big way in the last 3 games, which may well be the role he is being asked to play, i don't know. But aside from that he has been a work horse in covering territory all year. It may not come out in stats, but you need players like that. He's no super star, but he's no dud that's for sure. He's played some pretty clutch games over the past two seasons and personally i've noticed an improvement in terms of his previous one way running from years before.

His big flaw is that he does seem to lose form one way or another each year for a few games. His last 3 games has returned a 16 touch average which is a major headache. It's a test of Woosha to turn that around, because i don't think Zaka lacks effort in the regard. I'd say they need to look at his role because although he is more accountable than he was, i don't think a defensive role is playing to his strengths.

Do you reckon he would find it insulting if we said it to his face? I reckon he needs to hear it.
Hes probably heard it all before. Nothing like some gronk with a XXXXL footy jumper stretched over a vast gut leaning over the fence and yelling at an elite athlete that they play like a girl.

On paper he should be gone, but it aint so simple. He is genuinly liked amongst the playing group and sets a standard on how to train and behave. (but not necessarily on how we want to play). What is more important....to keep a level of happiness and justice within the playing group or to remove that concept and get what we can get for him, ignoring the human cost? We have have experienced this problem before with Blumfield, Hardwick, Caracella and a few more that ripped the heart out of the club at the time. (Salary cap issues) Would Zaka be the type like a Myers/Baguley/Dea/Hocking type to play reserves and only be called upon due injury? I don't think he would, but i most likely would be wrong.

They were good players though

He’s an average player, has never been anything more than that, sums us up for the last 10 years, promised a bit, not delivered much

Unfortunate for Zaka, but to be honest not a huge loss. In comparrison to all our injuries he probably ranks about 7th in order of importance for mine.

Not sure why he was being played behind the ball; HFF / Wing are the only places I see him being a relevant contributor. Bit disappointing that we move him to his more usual position and he gets injured, and unlucky for him that it’s on the eve of finals!

Hopefully a clear recovery for 2020 for him.

Isn't that what we woefully mismanaged Gleeson with last year?
Gleeson wasn't a syndesmosis injury and I don't think it was mismanaged either was it? Like it wasn't reinjured or anything it was just a really severe injury to begin with.

Redman I think had a syndesmosis and then had knee surgery while he was sidelined anyway.

Not yet ruled out for the rest of the season. They'll wait til post-surgery to talk to the specialist and see if he'll make it back.

Gleeson had a fractured talus, and a very significant injury for a footballer. His recovery was long, but his current form and condition demonstrates it was managed very well. The only thing they botched was their initial prediction on the timeline.

Should be back in time for pre-season training.

Veteran David Zaharakis (syndesmosis) also required surgery in late August and is expected to begin pre-season with the main group.

Funny thing, because I could've sworn he might've been back if we went deep enough into finals...
