I love Zaka around goals - is such a nice shot on the run or when taking snaps at goal. I think Heppell and Merrett will eventually get quite good at this themselves but they still have a ways to go at this stage of their careers. Its pretty nice to have a goal kicking mid that can rack up 25+ touches as your 4th best mid type. I think the role he's playing right now is absolutely perfect. Wouldn't change a thing.

This is what I have been banging on about all year.

Woosha is/has created a midfield that can alternate from the back of the square through to the forward 50 that is creating confusion amongst the opposing sides as they don't know who they are supposed to pick up on the way through.

It's a tactic used a lot in soccer and it's not fully explored in AFL as only a handful of teams have smalls that can impact both forward and mid.

It's why we will continue to see the development of Langers, Begley, Laverde, Green and such guys to make our depth even stronger.

It's exciting and quick and it's only just starting to pay off. It will get even more efficient.

"DAVID Zaharakis is edging closer to re-signing at Essendon, having only recently opened talks about a new deal with the club.

The in-form midfielder is the Bombers' next priority signing, with the club having recently tied down young star Joe Daniher and emerging midfielder Darcy Parish to new deals.

Zaharakis has enjoyed some of the best form of his career in the past three months after an inconsistent start to the season, but is one of Essendon's most vital players with his dash and run through the midfield.

He is a restricted free agent, so Essendon could match a rival's offer for him if he chose to look elsewhere at the end of the season, but the 27-year-old said he was keen to get a contract sorted "soon".

What do you think he should get paid? 500-600 a year?

It's difficult to say without knowing what he has been paid previously. Sometimes they front load earlier contracts if their is cap space or maybe they have promised him more money in his next contract.

In current form though his market value would be $600k plus I would say.

He's definitely added a harder edge to his play this year and his overlap run has been elite.

In top flight he is a very good player.

Half way through the season and there was a ton of unhappy bomber bigfooty ppl with zaka....stella finish to the year and possibly our most consistent over this period.
Seeing the revival of Zaka has been one of the highlights of 2017 for me.

He was seriously good again tonight. As soon as he decided he can and will get his hands dirty he became a different player.
