He said they would back him in and that was in response to the question 'would you back him in'. I don't think he said he is playing his role well but rather he said he was playing his role and then lumped him in with a general comment about the whole team being inconsistent. I think we can read between the lines here.
Okay, fair enough then.

I admittedly looked at it without context.

My point is more that I'm not going to hold Zaka to a higher standard than everyone else. If we're going to whinge about pressure acts then it's a problem for the entire team, and no one on the field that day registered more than 30 (at least according to the AFL app, which has been known to have issues).

Lol well I think he had like three tackles altogether. If there were a few more that were broken, I didn't see them.
My post is not focusing on Zaharakis and I've hardly whinged - Merely pointed out that 16 pressure acts is a low figure.

Oh god, I'm beginning to dislike woosha... I thought the honeymoon period would last longer.... Zaharakis has been absolutely woeful. Yet he feels free to drop other players on the basis of merit?

I missed the game today - why so poor? Similar to previous games or further regression?
If you've seen other games this year, you already know how today went. He was able to be involved in a few handball chains to link down the ground. Didn't ever reach a point of impacting the game though. He is not the player that he was last year.

TBH he is a down hill skier. Looks great when the team is up amd about but will never drag the team over the line or spark a momentum surge. We either have to accept it and move on or move him on as he is cleary the finished article. Would rather see a kid play like Kobe Mutch and let him make mistakes and learn from them then let a bloke repeatedly be vanilla. If we leave him in then we are one of the worst clubs in the league at the moment and accept it. At this rate Carlton will surpass us by years end and next year be well on the way to achieving something.

Will be interesting to see what happens. Woosha has backed him in so to drop him a week and a bit later would be a little hypocritical.
You always back a player in. Its sink or swim but to be honest Woosha has no pressure on him at the moment so he should be testing these guys out and if they cant do it then thats it for them.

Agree, I think David will play most games he is fit for this year, and if this standard continues, may not play many more thereafter. I think this year is being used as a dress rehearsal for the future. At this stage, Zaka may struggle to be a part of that future

SherbertLemon, constructive criticism of him or any other player is fine. Wanton abuse is not.

Please don't keep doing this.
No worries Doss.

Get a kick. Start winning the hard ball. Tighten up your disposal. Needs to start two way running and spreading properly.

I'm not your biggest fan, but I believe in you. Even though precedent shows this will never change.

I wouldn't disagree with a single one of those observations about his game at present.

Must tick all the boxes during the week as the reason why he keeps getting games same with Stanton. Sadly blitzing training during the week is not enough you need to perform on game day as well.
What are you saying? First in at the club every morning. Keeps his locker tidy. Early to team meetings. Sits in the front row. Always has his shirt tucked in. Asks the right amount of questions at the right time. Flushes mid dump to make sure he doesnt clog the toilet. Parks his car far away so others can park closer. Often goes and gets subway for his team mates and gives correct change back. Showers 7 times a day so he doesnt offend others with his BO or Deodorant. Often ask others questions about themselves so the other person feels good about themselves. Last to leave the club.

Stick him inside and tell him to get the ball and tackle when he doesn't have it.
Need to instil physical & contested side to his game. Make it his primary objective (we have enough runners) and give him a month or so to develop it.

Could be good running with Selwood, Mitchell, Martin & Coniglio the next month and embrace the contact.
