Think even Castagna's biggest critics would admit he went well tonight. 8 Tackles, 4 bounces, a goal and an assist, 14 rocks, and some trademark pretty ragged disposal, but got it done nicely.
Yep. Have been a critic but he was good tonight. Finally started using his pace as an offensive weapon, broke some lines and looked dangerous. Needs to make tonight the template.

Yep - I'm always laying the boots in when he plays a shocker, so only fair to talk up his good ones.

Well played George. Big lift last 2 weeks, looks a different player. Still looks unsure sometimes with his decision making, but now he's putting in the hard yards when he hasn't got it. Loved when he ran away from Zak Jones too.

His routine for kicking at goal looks better, the one he missed early was a straight shot, just thought he allowed for it drift back but it never did.
He also ran in a line exactly where he kicked it, rather than straight at the goals.

Looks anxious/tentative from the set shot still, hopefully the last one he slotted helps his confidence.

Thing is with Castagna being able to lead and mark there’s him, Rioli, Dusty, Caddy and now Jack lurking around in the 50
somebody is gonna get a defender who doesn’t matchup well.
If his average came up another half a goal per game he’s elite

Bang *en crash and bolt clear is Richmond at its best , George is right in the thick of that with some of his plays last night

Personally for me 8 tackles and a goal doesn't cover for weeks of missed handballs, generally poor kicking/finishing, fumbles and lack of composure. Would still prefer him to be the one that makes way for Jack but they will probably wrongly drop Balta and we will be torched in the ruck.

Ellis has been unquestionably better than Castagna the last fortnight.
Ellis has had 6 great quarters up until half time against The Swans. The bad Ellis came out after that though which was a bit of a shame.
Castagna needs to do alot more wrong to be behind Ellis.

Small sample size three games. Over his career he has 2.15 clangers per match on average.
I would be interested in clanger vs disposal % rating eg 2 clangers per game from 10 dsp per game twice as bad as 2 out of 20.
Not George bashing, wouldn’t be surprised if Dusty rated poorly on this measure...
