The biggest improvement this year. Calling it now.

= 9th in the league for rebound 50's & 27th for intercepts

Compared to 2019, and despite there being less game time this season, he is up in:

Disposals (19.8 vs 14.4)
Marks (4.1 vs 3.9)
Rebound 50's (5.1 vs 2.5)
Score involvements (2.4 vs 1.9)
Meters gained (324.8 vs 245.7)
Intercepts (5.6 vs 5)

There is a strong case to put forward that once the team starts to gel again and play a decent style of football that LMac will be able to become more dangerous and involved in launching our attacking play, rather than operating primarily in the D50, which was more his bag back in 2017. But this time it would be with a complete defensive game to back up his hard running and long kicking attacking game.

I still think his best game type is hard lockdown with licence to float and close off players or attack where appropriate. IMO that's when he's been at his best this year rather than when he's had a pure offensive game, he's almost a utility version of Ben Jacobs at his best. Hopefully as the team improves around him it will be harder to sit on him as well.

Wherever he finishes in the Syd he can certainly hold his head high having played an outstanding season personally. I hope those who survive this week’s cull take a few lessons from what Two Dogs has achieved.

Love his versatility when playing multiple roles on field. Roam off HB and then go tag a player when required.

Forget about hard lock down, that's a waste.

He needs to play a kick behind play no matter where the ball is on the ground.

His ability to turn defence in to attack is a major weapon that is not being harvested properly at the moment.

He should be the focal point of our forward press.

Watch GR's clip again, but think about it from the perspective of a player who rolls up the ground with the midfield transition (when we get that right), rather than staying bolted down in the defensive 50:

Luke could turn 10-15 rebounds a game in to forward entries & scores, particularly now that his left foot has got it's laser guidance system back on line.
