Long been a Mitch McGovern fan. I think peeps underestimate how good it is for a team coming off our year to not only keep all our required talent but to get a contracted and wanted player like Mitch to nominate us, and then get the deal done. Happy with the end deal too.

We basically handed over pick 13 for someone automatically in our best 5 players. Not bad for pick 13
Charlie and especially McKay are still young and raw.

McGovern will help take the pressure off them and give us a really dangerous and mobile tall forward line.

You've done well out of this. He has all the traits and has produced them at AFL level unlike a speculative draft pick.

Only thing Gov doesn't have is luck with injuries. Disappointed to lose him.
Though you bought low and sold high with Gov. Very fair trade for all concerned.

Unfortunately that's not how a club should operate. Buy low, develop well and keep the player unless surplus. A constant turnover of good players sucks.

Anyway have fun watching him. He's good to watch.

I like this trade. Gov has shown how good he is and picks 26 and 28 are a raffle, they always are. We could've drafted another Boekhurst or Viojo-Rainbow but instead we trade those picks and a free hit from the AFL for someone we know can certainly play at the level. Charlie, Harry and Mitch can all take a mark and all three are terrific below their knees. A modern, athletic and exciting forward line. Sensational get.

Those picks even later than that given compensation picks, father/son and academy selections.

Given the open secret that we were well into McGovern by this point, I watched him closely through the binoculars for much of our round 23 match. Was handy in defence for the Crows, but I'd hope we'd only have him pinch-hitting back there from time to time, of course.

What struck me most was, after the final siren, just how chummy and familiar he appeared to be with much of our playing group - not sure if this is due to all concerned knowing what was coming, or if he knows a bunch of our guys socially already, but it was clear that he was friendly and popular with our guys. They'll really like this signing, I think.

Welcome, Mitch! Go well, young man - and thanks for being one of the rare few wanting to join us. I hope we mutually repay that faith many times over.

We effectively got McGovern and 3rd round pick for 2 mid 2nd round picks. Whats there not to like?
We gave away our state league player though. Personally, I feel like we paid slightly overs but I'm happy regardless. We bent Adelaide over last year and it's hard to lure quality players to a bottom side. I've probably under estimated this guy as well. If Russell can get him fit and firing it will be a huge bonus.

Keep going SOS. Don't stop here.

McAdam equals the future third.

Those second rounders both around pick 30 after compensation picks and father/son and academy selections...so pretty far back.

We've done OK here.
Yeah it's all good. All clubs should be pleased with this one. SOS and Bolts got their man.
