Not sure on the comments here. Schwarz is very good as a host on the run home. He pays attention to the listeners and callers who ring in, he comes across well on the show and works well with every co host he has had on the station. I don't rate him as a game day commentator at all though.
How can you be a good host or come across well on a radio station if you can't express yourself properly because you struggle so mightily with the English language?

Mahler being on 12 to 3 doesn't bother me as I never listen during this time. Breakfast is fine with Gary and Tim plus their regular guests. Always enjoy the ox, regardless of who he is working with (don't like him much as a commentator though).
If only it was Mahler, would definitely be better than Maher.

Ah, shit!!! It Hutchy gets his claws into SEN he'll most likely fa'rk it up by making all the hosts CONSTANTLY mention sponsors, like he's done to Sports Day on 3aw, and has also done himself for years on his show on SEN with Pickers and Dr Turf.

Rant alert:

Hutchy has almost farked Sports Day by getting Dwayne (especially, for some reason) to read live ads ALL THE TIME. No joke, all I seem to hear every time Dwayne opens his gob is "we're hear for McDonald's, with the thicker, juicier Angus Beef, and Red Energy, Werribee Kia, Onga Pumps, Lottoland, Spitwater. You can have a pass for a game of golf at Club Mandalay... This is the Harcourt Real Estate Open Line"... blah, blah, blah... "Don't forget Maxxis Tyres, Energy Safe, New Age Caravans.....remember to always Drink Wise.. Check out the Parkview Hotel, Riko Filters, Ticketek, KFC, Totally Work Wear, Essendon DFO, NAB Trade Radio, Federation Uni, Goanna Oil, Bayer Fungicide, Thirsty Camel, The Denny Ute Muster....he was here for the TAC working towards zero, and Brivis Cooling, keep your house cool this summer with Brivis. Cranbourne Turf Club is having big meet tomorrow; check it out; entry is just 15 dollars. We're also here for Country Racing; check out countryracing.com.au....

And on top of all that are the long TAB betting spots with Nick Quinn. Sometimes he's even the co-host, and talks about odds through most of the show!

Crikey fa'rk. It's farked. It's almost like a 9am tv morning show. Hooskesy would be rolling in his grave, not that he was shy about making a quid

I can't imagine Neal Mitchell doing that all through his show.

This year is first year since the show started with Gerard Healy and Hookesy in about 1994 (I think) that I've been turning it off regularly, especially if Derwayne's doing the show on his own. *farkin snooooze*. Sometimes he shits on for 2 minutes about the Kia he drove around Werribee.

First world problems, hey? Ha. :D Ah well, if the live ads are necessary to keep the station going, and to keep the second hour of Sports Day, then I'll cop it.

Hmm, there are no details in that article of the supposed "tension" between Lyon and McLachlan, apart from: "McLachlan has since departed after reports of tension in his relationship with Lyon".
That's all it says.
Take over is on, all directors resigned, what is Perty going to do now? Will the ASX be advised after close of trade?

Personally I have doubts about Croc Media's long term viability. Producing Radio shows, TV Shows and live sports is expensive. The expansion in their content production has gone through the roof in the last 12 months. Some of the shows like the A-League broadcasts and morning sports show on fiveaa can't be breaking even.

Doubt they could do worse than those who have been running the circus since the change to a sports based operation.

Why they spent big bucks on Lyon is beyond comprehension. No wonder Hamish bailed short of twelve months.

Lyon has been solid imo. Took him a little while to get into the swing of things but I reckon him and Whispy have been going well especially since Hame left

Well, the ratings don't reflect that.
Mclauglin only left ~5 weeks ago, there hasn't even been ratings reportings that will reflect whether Lyon and Watson are rating any better as a duo.

Even when we do get the final ratings for the year it won't be an accurate reflection - SEN's ratings are only really worth considering during the AFL season.

It is an infinitely better show now with just the 2 of them. And if their ratings remain steady despite there being no AFL, SEN would consider that a win.

Lyon and Watson have been working in tandem almost all year. Hamish has been very much the third string which may be part of the reason for him choosing to leave. Apart from not getting on with Lyon. The reality is their ratings have been no better than their predecessors. The major management and board ructions may well have much to do with the poor on-air decisions.

Lyon is no radio performer. He's overbearing and arrogant. He's best suited to special comments work in my view.

It's hard to imagine SEN with more advertisements, but with Crocmedia as owners it will happen. Every segment, every presenter, every interview will have a sponsor and a "sting". Good grief!!

Possible Casualties/Winners?

* Seem to recall The Ox having a strained relationship with Hutchison, although there's no reason why they can't work together professionally.
* Robbo will go/won't be renewed. That relationship is busted.

* Might hear more of Damien Barrett on SEN?
* Blokes like Kane Cornes might get airtime.
* Some younger talent/voices to get a run - this isn't necessarily a bad thing. Start by giving the overnight shift to someone better than the incumbent.

Robbo is a big name for the station and is part of the program (crunch time) which has won many awards. He and hutchy have a big beef with each other it seems so not sure it will work going forward. Only through this did I find out that Dr turf and his brother are part owners of crocmedia.

Off the bench has a lot of host read ads and this could translate to the station overall.

Listening to the morning show today, Lyon was adamant he and Watson would be hosting the show next year.

Robbo to be gone, if so....
Good riddance to bad rubbish.
A total bore, dumb, can't speak properly.... and a poor writer.
And they're his good points.

Imagine how many awards they could win without the buffoon...

He certainly is not the reason Crunch time has won in the past.
