Sam McClure gets his own show? How does that oxygen thief keep getting a gig? Who does he have photos of?
WTF is wrong with the fat man. Removing half the people on the station yet keeps Maher, Lyon and now is giving oxygen to McClure.
Staggering.

I think Finey will be missed.

He was too overexposed and had all of those silly shows about numbers and stats which are good ideas, but I think entire shows based around it is pretty full on and repetitive for the average listener.

Personally, I would have liked to have seen Fine stay with a quality not quantity approach with new guests. I think knowing he had to change things would be the firepower he needed as he may have felt content and lethargic in that role for so long. I'll miss him.
I am really surprised with RoCo in some ways. Learning the job, and good music at times.
However, for someone who has been a major newspaper sports journalist for so long, he seems to know so little about sports other than footy.
I like his personality, and think hosting a program could work out well for him. But I disagree with the bolded, he seems to lack just as much knowledge in basic football whenever I listen to him.

I don’t think it’s fair to say Rohan only knows about Footy, I follow him on Twitter and he tweets regularly about Cricket and Soccer as well and you can tell that there is enthusiasm there when he speaks about those sports. When he was at The Age he covered Cricket for them as well.

I was surprised to see Finey go and more surprised to see Jack replace him instead of Rohan. Jack did a good job at Eon Sport with Bianca Chatfield and is certainly a capable presenter, but I thought Rohan did a good enough job as a fill in and has a reasonably high profile to attract listeners.

I know Finey’s 2.1 in the last ratings was a shocker, but it seemed like an anomaly to me and that he had enough runs on the board ratings wise to continue. I’m just hypothesising, but maybe Hutchy is taking a stance that certain behaviour that Fine exhibited towards the audience is not going to be tolerated under his watch? Following Rohan on Twitter, he seems to have a short fuse as well so that may have counted against him, whereas Jack Heverin is always pleasant to the listener even when they have a go at him. On the other hand maybe Rohan just wasn’t interested in the gig.

That's the one. I'm a fan. Speaks well, doesn't talk over the top and doesn't seem to have a big ego. A bit like Mark Howard on the Big Bash, has a decent enough personality to be likeable, but is not dominating and lets the others do what they do.

Funnily enough and I have nothing to base this on but sort of sounded like he was auditioning for a spot.

I’ve enjoyed his work so far.

I didn’t mind Finey. Used to love how he would stir up the listeners. There are far worse out there.

RoCo IMHO has the ability to grow into the role. He is a bit green but with some training will be able to introduce and close segments smoothly soon
Needs a LOT of work and polish.

Switched on at the start of tonight's show - the first words out of his mouth (weather) were a stumble, then he proceeds to give out the phone/SMS number inviting people to call in with "whatever is on their minds" (tennis? cricket?), literally ten seconds later it is a clunky shift to the World of Football show with two studio guests and no sign of a caller after 30+ minutes.

PS: No mention of Finey at the outset, I'm sure it will come, but a little surprising.

As a motor racing fan. I've got my back up!!!!!!!!!

Haha please. If you need evidence, go look up stats on :
Crowd numbers
Overall TV audience global and australia
Revenue raised
Advertising dollars
Social media impact

Aus Open destroys all other sporting events. And it's one of 4 majors. How many grand prixs are there? 20?
pepsi. You're alright. Especially when Woolworths sell your 2L bottles for $2. But c'mon man. You're likely to be looking at selective "facts". Put them in context bro?

The tennis is on for two weeks. The GP is on for a weekend. No wonder the AO is bigger with such an advantage. It'd be much more accurate to comparing it to the Men's final, 90mins of the Men's final.

If the AO was that big a deal. The GP wouldn't be in Melbourne. Can you imagine how the AO would go with the concentrated attack the media gives the GP, or how the GP is often on prior to the start or held the same weekend as rd1 of footy?

The AO has an advantage of being a GS, but it's a lightweight GS. 3rd or 4th in importance. The AGP is what I'll call in the 2nd tier of prestige.

The AO survives off fair weather support. I'm watching it now between overs of the BBL. The GP require a wiff of concentration to know what's going on. That's too much for the general public.

20 GP is bigger that 4GS +16ATP1000/500 events. How much more diluted in significance would the AO be with as many GS?

Many times in the past. The British GP is held on the same day as the Men's Wimbledon final. The Wimbledon final has the advantage of being held in London. The BGP is in the middle of relative whoop whoop, somewhere with terrible access wherever near Northamptonshire. BGP crowd≥ Wimbledon final.

Tell me more about social media? Who cares???

Come at me!!!

For the rest of you. The GP is like having a a top matchup in the EPL, for actual points, every year. And there's nothing bigger than the EPL. That's why the GP is here despite how much you hate it. The pollies and corporate community know this?

So yeah. EPL≥ F1≥ the rest...

Staggering.
I find it more staggering that people seem to think their opinion is fact and that the station should cater to their tastes alone.

RoCo soccer guests for their regular Tuesday night show were late into the studio because of a late flight from Sydney , so RoCo was setting up for change of plan , and asked for callers to call in about "anything" on their mind.

Then his two guest strolled in so the soccer show went ahead.

RoCo just closed the soccer hour saying that another person will be hosting them next week , seems that RoCo might not have been to go ahead with Jacks appointment news or may not have been aware that Jack Heverin has been announced, and that it was ok to say so

I have a feeling that Jack Heverin won't stay longer than a year as the host , as he will be head hunted by Fox or some other TV network

So Finey may yet be back sooner than we think , IMO Finey is better than Maher & Francis and they have both been brought back to sen.

Disappointed to see Finey get the flick. Interstate listener but would listen to his recordings on the website. Loved his research across all teams and all sports.

Hope Finey and Roco keep their podcast going.

Gerard Whateley staring his show on Mon 29th Jan , is he starting it in the USA for and broadcasting live from Super Bowl LII week , in Minneapolis Minnesota ?
Then be back in the sen studio in Melb on Wed 7th Feb

We know Hutchy love his Super Bowl , would be a Hutchy thing to launch his big signing from the biggest event.
