Can you remember what was so bad about it?
Somehow (considering the era), we were thrashing Port and Dwayne & Scott being solid Port supporters just took the piss all day rather than commentate. I imagine there were many complaints that day. Hutchy was gone that week.

For memory, Hutchy's sacking at 3aw was to do with the 10am Saturday morning show he was doing, which i assume wasn't rating well enough
That show that Hutchy had on Saturday mornings with Trevor Marmalade/Dr Turf and his sacking turned out to be a blessing in disguise for Hutchy. That show was broadcasted into the regional areas as well and upon Hutchy’s sacking, there was a 2 hour gap in regional programming that now needed filling. This is how off the bench (And Crocmedia) started, by filling up that 2 hour gap on Saturday mornings in the regional areas.

I think some of his hours were actually an improvement on Harf's, who I think was a bit lazy with some of his hours. But I think it's fair to say we're all looking forward to when later in the year, whichever certain poster provides a link to say Maher has been sacked?

Finey had a good grasp of the game but he was long winded and at times unduly aggressive - read rude. Think those things in addition to giving that windbag and general schmuck Peak too much air time might have been his ultimate undoing.

Sad to see Hillier go. He was a pro.
Amazing a media organisation would get rid of someone whose entire career has been working in media, particularly radio.

Will be interesting to see how much coverage SEN gives to the winter olympics

Anyone know where the cricket commercial radio rights are up? As someone mentioned Croc/SEN might chase those.
Well i don't radio rights come up for negotiation. TV rights deals i think are over a 5 year period. Radio right might be different. In 2013, Fairfax bought the rights to tests, ODI's and the Big Bash. In 2016 MMM acquired the rights to provide radio coverage for test matches in Australia. I could be totally wrong but It seems like any station that wants to cover cricket on the radio just needs to present a deal to Cricket Australia that they agree with and, bingo, you've got the rights.

I do wonder though if there are enough good commentary boxes to go around. I'll use the recent Sydney test as an example: We had channel 9, BT Sport, ABC Grandstand, Macquarie radio, MMM and Test Match Special all covering the test providing commentary. Channel 9, BT Sport, ABC Grandstand, Macquarie radio, MMM were all using the commentary facilities behind the bowlers arm, while TMS had to use a commentary box in the Bill O'Reilly stand which didn't provide a great view for commentary IMO. Maybe it's only an issue in Sydney but i don't think the commentary position TMS had was mcuh chop at all. I know i'd rather be behind the bowlers arm.

Here's the view TMS had via Michael Vaughan's Instagram:

IF they did the get the cricket rights, you'd probably have Gerard and Huddo calling. If you wanted a team with three callers, offer Alison Mitchell some good coin to join from ABC. No idea who they'd get to be their experts. If they get cricket rights though, they really need to make SEN national.
