Credit where it is due this morning. watson and lyon between 7-8 covered a selection of sports, even consecutive interviews to schwartzer and Australian football journo about the head managerial/coach position of the national football team. It was pretty good.

Lyon opened up with a mini rant about the WA premiers call for the GF to be hosted in perth at the new stadium. I dont think anyone called in as we the public saw it for a bit of a stunt by the polly, nothing more. Not real. But lyon tried his best to drum up some controversy.

a few updates on the NFL playoff too.

they work much better without mcclure and hamish. remember last year during footy season there were at times 6 people competing for air time. terrible.

tonight is teh first day of the new lineup. 6-7 - mcclure.

Is this a guess or have you heard something?

Caro won't be going to SEN. However, she might now be warmer to the idea given Hutchy is running the company and they have a working relationship.
Purely a guess on my behalf with the fact Hutchy is about to announce a couple more big names.

Does that reflect advertising support, you know the dollars that pay the bills, the on air staff ....
I would hope having a higher quality product would translate to more listeners. By higher quality I mean better informed, more professional programs and presenters. I have barely listened to SEN outside of footy season in the past because i have found the presenters infuriatingly unprofessional and lazy in their approach. I also know plenty of other people who have felt the same.

Hope so. Donegan is an absolute pro. Any sports radio network is kidding themselves if they are not chasing someone of his calibre.
Donegan went freelance a reason

He is able to call Olympics , golf , tennis , afl , vfl , horse racing etc because he is not locked into one radio or tv station

Time On is a lawsuit waiting to happen.

Lethlain would've been well in his rights to hang up on McLure given some of the questions about his demise at the AFL and missing out on the Carlton CEO gig.

McLure then had the gall to reiterate that he was totally sure Lethlain had the Carlton gig and then had it withdrawn after the interview.

I give it 4 weeks before they can't find anyone outside of the Melbourne Football Club to interview and they show gets boned.

I will have to give the show a listen I think, I was expecting something like the news hour that they used to have between 2 and 3 that Brett Thomas did. I don’t think BT was the problem, it was the format that was no good.

I know Maclure can act like a tool, but it’s good to see somebody at SEN prepared to ask some tough questions of a guest. If Marko and Ox were still on it would have been a PR puff piece, as would anything in the breakfast slot.

Did McClure call him "Lethers"? His over-familiarity with famous sports people irritates me: "Lethers", "Jonesy", etc. For all I know he's good friends with all of them, but sounds odd hearing such a greenhorn talk to grownups like that. :D

Maybe it grates on me because I'm the one with issues. lolzoesy-oh

There's tough questions, then there's 'You were given the CEO gig at Carlton and then it was taken away from you - FACT. How did that feel?'
