Hope so. Donegan is an absolute pro. Any sports radio network is kidding themselves if they are not chasing someone of his calibre.
That's a bingo.

He knows his stuff, researchers, a real classy pro.

We've had many lazy presenters that just hurt the product (looking at you Mark Allen).
We've had many self sniffers thinking their turds are chocolate (looking at you McLure)

Looks like RoCo has been given the nod for the Friday morning shift if this week's schedule is the norm for the year ahead, according to their website.
Rohan Connolly would be a fine appointment, but my mail is Kane Cornes has the job for the Friday role. I hope to God my sources are wrong, can't stand him.

It would be the furthest "one-extreme-to-another" situation if Cornes gets it. Whateley is clean in his delivery, is researched across multiple subjects and interviews well. Kane Cornes is acutely 0 from 3 of those attributes.

Bang on. Donegan is one of my favourite broadcasters going around. Listening to him commentate the Aus Open this year (for the world feed via the 7Tennis website) is a massive reminder of how good he is.

There's tough questions, then there's 'You were given the CEO gig at Carlton and then it was taken away from you - FACT. How did that feel?'
Horrible interview, trying to come across as deep and hard hitting when it was just soft and contrived. Trying to draw emotion out of him like a Womens Weekly reporter.

Anyone know where the cricket commercial radio rights are up? As someone mentioned Croc/SEN might chase those.
My understanding is that they're up for grabs. Macquarie Radio's five year deal (e.g. 3AW, 5AA, 2GB, 6PR, 4BC) signed in 2013 is done at the end of the summer, as is Triple M's two year deal signed in 2016.

It would be far from surprising if we end up with something like "Cricket Nation" being shopped around by Crocmedia, with SEN1116 holding the Melbourne rights and the rest going to the current Macquarie network; I can't see Triple M giving up on cricket yet.

No way Donegan would want to give up his lifestyle for the rigours of day-to-day broadcasting.

Dear. God. No.

He'd be the worst thing to happen to SEN. Besides, no one will care about his Adelaide pot shots in Melbourne anyway.

Interestingly on sen facebook page they were promoting cornes/blight SA show/podcast/whatever.

hope sen doesn't take their feed
It's produced by crocmedia for 5AA; crocmedia runs SEN 1116 ... they'll borrow heavily from it and the 6PR version, presumably, but won't take a direct feed.

I have not posted in a while but I want to wish Jack Heverin all the best tomorrow.
I know the SEN staff and announcers read this and Jack you were one of the best talents at EON and I am glad you have been given the chance to shine again.

As for Hutchy and his cohort Cathy the way you have conducted yourselves re the changes at SEN has been nothing short of a disgrace.
You made up your minds long ago as to who was going to be given the flick but of course it didnt suit you to get rid of them right away , producers , hosts etc etc
No just like the Governor at the Prison who needed a few death row prisoners to do some work before they left this earth he just strung them out a little to suit himself.
No way you were going to call KB or others back from holidays so instead just string out the ones you were going to flick anyway to suit your own needs.
I wonder how many of those told they were no longer required would have stayed around if they knew you were going to fire them anyway.
Even Finey told right at the end of his holiday break shows how you played them all like a fiddle.
As for you Cathy best not watch those movies where the nasty conniving leader gets his assistant to do all the dirty work for him and then when the dirty work is all done he calls her in and ..well you can work out what happens next.

Jack watch your back young man and you will be fine
Well. That was a good read.

The thing with Hutchy is. He's copped so much crap over the past couple of decades from all angles, that nothing hurts him. There's nothing he's done that he hasn't been done to him. So it's not going to impact him in any way.

Who's Cathy?
You I hope never listen again. If you had any idea , Cathy put out a survey and that's what came back champ. Turn off .
The boss and goes ok. The dumb pricks like ox didn't get it
Cathy Thomas. The GM, I believe.
Cathy has been made REDUNDANT!!

It doesn't say much:

Thomas, who had been in charge of the sports station for the past 18 months, was told her position had been made redundant as part of the sweeping changes being engineered by CrocMedia boss Craig Hutchison.

Thomas joined SEN in 2016 after 13 years at Austereo and was responsible for the controversial signing of Garry Lyon to a new revamped breakfast show.

With ratings struggling throughout last year Thomas was under pressure and ultimately it cost her a job after Pacific Star Network merged with Hutchison’s company, signalling a new era at the station.

On the latest sacking, PSN chairman Craig Coleman said: “Change is never easy but we are focused on positioning SEN for future growth.

“We thank Cathy for the valued contribution she’s made to the station and wish her every success in the future.”

It is expected Thomas’ role will be covered internally with a number of new executive appointments expected in the coming days.

Thomas described her time at SEN as a “rewarding experience”.

“My time at SEN has been a very rewarding experience, working with an amazing group of people both on and off the air who will continue to thrive across broadcast and digital platforms within the newly merged business and all of the opportunities for growth this offers.”

Although the prospect of listening to Kane Cornes talk for hours on end no doubt fills most with a sense of dread, he does fit the Hutchison/Croc media archetype of preferring to generate controversy out of thin air with outlandish statements as a means of trying to set the agenda for the coming day(s) regardless of whether or not what it is that they are saying is factually correct. I suspect that over time this will become SEN's trademark as they struggle for relevance in an already over crowded football landscape. Look for Hutchisons' rediculous verballing of other panelists on the Croc media produced FC or any other time he is in front of a microphone if any further evidence is required.
