there are no other teams worthy
I’m a Lyon & Watson fan but I have a hypothetical - if in 2019 Hutchy got rid of them and had to replace with 2 new hosts but kept the rest of the full time SEN staff in their current spots who would people want?

Eg: you can’t choose KB or Turf as they already a show.

You can choose people like Dal Santo, McGuane as they are casuals and you can choose anyone from other stations etc.
I'd probably not tune in. They have the right early morning relaxed style I enjoy. Do not take things too seriously. Mick McGuane is way too serious and talks way too fast to be easy listening at 6 am in morning. 9 am to 10 am is more acceptable to take him in small doses.

I like Dr turf but think the pairing with KB seriously lacks energy, probably not surprising given a combined age of 135+. While Allen and ox had their flaws they had a certain undefinable energy that cannot be easily replaced.
I get your point. My first impressions from this are that they're just a couple of mates talking to each other while they happen to be on air.

The "energy" you call is atm a step down from their hours when in mornings.

Does Watson remind you of someone who still lives in the 1950's?
Has zero knowledge of the modern world and lacks all understanding of contemporary issues.

Still, I guess its understandable, he grew up in the bush until the age of 15, then spent the next 20 years in the sheltered workshop of the VFL/AFL.
He would never have had the opportunity to experience real world events or issues.

I'm amazed that no one has questioned him on his view that everyone has a "Christian" name, heard him ask a Korean person what their Christian name was earlier in the week.....ignorance is strong in this one
That Christian name thing is like nails down a blackboard (showing my age!) .... when was the last time Tim filled in a form that didn't have "first name"? But don't be too critical as you will have people screeching PC PC at you.

And his other job is in a newsroom.

Turfy is ok, but maybe to be on only 2 or 3 times a week and get Richo on Mondays when there's no races.
Dr T has never worked a five day week in his life - not sure why he wants to start now over 60. He will spit the dummy soon enough and Hutchy will have to call him out. But shouldn't be too hard to get a replacement. However I do like Turfy - he isn't an "insider" like most of the football media who scared of offending people.

Agree! Both a professional presenter and caller. Hillier's sacking was a error of judgement too. Moreso, after hearing his weekend replacement.

The $800k (plus) Hutchy is allegedly getting might also prove to be an error of judgement.
In most radio stations the CEO gets less than the on air hosts. No one at SEN would be one more. but Huthcy has an ego the size of Uluru so he would think he is worth it.

Richo and KB together would be a great combo. Used to love his Value segment on a friday morning.
you like the "don't bet the 4 horse" grab ?
the same gags every week - "the bible" "Ive got my highlighter" KB is tight.,
Richo knows his stuff and KB likes racing so it could be have been so much more informative and entertaining.

Just love the banter, like a couple of good mates talking shit. I enjoy Richos work too

Posted a while ago to expect more of Cornes - Hutchison is definitely grooming him for bigger things - Will add that Cornes needs to temper his outlandish statements - You can still have a strong and informed opinion but couch it in a more amenable way.
His outlandish statements are exactly the way Hutchy has groomed him. Hutchy wants effectively someone to play a character to take their opinions and dial them to 15 as the backlash and outrage drives further content, clicks and listeners

I'll take the Wyllies judgement over yours 22:
http://www.afr.com/business/media-a...uy-craig-hutchisons-crocmedia-20180108-h0f523

The Wyllie family owns 34 per cent of Viburnum Funds, which revealed on Monday that it would provide $8.25 million of the $10 million placement at 25¢ per share that will have PSN combine with Crocmedia to form a company with pro-forma annual revenue of $48 million and pre-tax earnings of about $10 million.

Crocmedia said it made an unaudited pre-tax profit of $3.9 million from revenue of $25.7 million in the year to October 2017, while PSN delivered EBITDA of $3.5 million from $22.7 million revenue in the same period. PSN said a further $3 million of synergies could be achieved via the merger.

Like or loathe him Finey and Co at least had some personality-new SEN line up is like listening to a read of the White pages phone book.
My car radio is still tuned on SEN (force of habit). I was driving for an hour this morning 'listening' to SEN and I honestly can't remember a single word that was said, who the host and guests were, not one thing! The new cast at SEN make elevator music sound cutting edge.

whatley is one ... he wont be getting the gigs ABC could give him .... test matches for one.
I'm not so sure about that... i reckon SEN will try pretty hard to get cricket rights.
On the sounding board Hutch was very coy when pressed on if he will be trying to get them

It's funny, I enjoyed footy classified for the measured discussion and insight into the politics of AFL football. Hutchy seems to think that the audience was pulled in by his forced controversy and his intentional antagonizing of his fellow panelists.

I hate that type of "who screams the loudest" type of journalism , if you can call it that. It's so obvious in what it is trying to do in raising the hackles and get a response, but it just seems manufactured to me. Sounds like he's following the same sort of methodology with his new radio puppy

Yeah I think Macqurie are possibly walking away or will maybe pick and choose which games they will cover like Triple M.

He's going to be calling the Super Bowl next week. With that surprise he might get to do a few gigs he had no chance of doing with ABC.
Is he actually broadcasting it? SEN have only said he's fronting their "Superbowl coverage" but nothing has been said about broadcasting the game itself

Gerard is a versatile commentator but even I doubt his ability to call American football. The sport is beyond anything we have in Australia as far as difficulty goes imo.

EDIT: Have just seen the announcement that he will be calling the game itself. Ok, this will be interesting.
