Disappointing after all the pre season report's about Jy, looked fit and love his attack on the footy but it counts for nothing if you can't make it to the contest. Think his physical deficiencies are going to stop him from being a solid AFL player. Hopefully someone multi quotes my Jy criticisms in the future if he can turn it around but I can't see it happening.

Is he being mismanaged? I don’t profess to know the intimate details but to me it seems his confidence is shot and he could benefit from a spell in the VFL. Clearly playing him badly out of form in the AFL isn’t working.
Absolutely

Um, he hasn't been dropped. It's part of the point being made.[/QUOTE
Check out first page of Jy’s thread.. from draft day.. I guess u get what u draft
Weaknesses:

- Contested-ball winning

- Scope to play through midfield full-time unclear

- Disposal per game numbers

- Endurance

Let’s use our first round pick on a player who has no endurance and can’t find the pill. Brilliant
I can also quote selectively about Jy:

Strengths:
- Lowers eyes and demonstrates excellent vision and ability to hit inside 50m targets
- Composed with ball in hand
- Precision kick to target
- Finishes well from general play

- Scoreboard impact
- Acceleration

- X-factor

Who wouldn't use a first rounder for this?

Scoreboard impact??? Acceleration??? Not sure he's even had a multiple goal game.

I just don't see a trick. Kicking is terrible (distance and accuracy), can't find it, not quick. Plays tough sometimes, but that can be the found in the VFL.

I hope it's mismanagement, because he looks shot at the moment.
His points of difference are

- evasiveness
- X factor.

Both these can be a huge advantage in the right side/environment.

His kicking though has become deplorable and I have been to training a few times and its the same there.

I think Simpkin - perhaps more than any other youngster on the list - is a victim of the Scott mismanagement era and will be the one to benefit most from fresh ideas and management.

Gawd the kid is out of form

I bet the same ones writing him off wrote Drew Petrie off...some of us are old enough to remember the early days of Boomer and Simmo...even Carey’s early seasons were inconsistent

Wake up, and give him some space

Just another kid we've drafted who will join the conga line of high picks at North that have failed to live up to expectations. Has shown nothing, absolutely nothing this season yet keeps his spot. Can't understand why. Whether it's laziness, hunger, development, fitness, attitude it's simply not good enough from him and the club.

Thrown in the deep end

Straight from Bushies to AFL

No time playing with VFL to develop awareness and physicality

3rd year blues

I get it Gaso, but it just shits me seeing other top 10 picks at other clubs make immediate impacts, showcase their talents a lot more etc than what Jy has at North. It's now his 3rd season and is going backwards. Has really only shown some glimpses which isn't enough. He should be tracking a whole lot better. I don't think he has the physicality and hunger to make it as a decent standard AFL player imo.
