Oh god. Mate, why do you even bother? This is bullshit in so many ways...
He was top three talent sans broken leg.

He'll be a gun player.
your taking the piss right?
I was a little harsh admittedly, he does have a bit of X factor about him despite his average kicking, and almost certainly will be the best of our young crop, but I don't rate most of our other youngsters tbh.

As I said in my follow up post its our poor development systems that I fear will hurt him the most. Once upon a time we were all excited for Harper and Atley, one has been delisted and the other has been underwhelming at best.

I do stand by that we needing either a Kelly or a top 3 pick, bascially the cream of the draft instead of these middle of the road first rounders that have come from multiple mid table finishes.

Because the majority of elite players are top 3 selections right? Off the top of my head, the best 5 midfielders in the comp were taken at 20 or later...

By your logic, though, if we get Kelly or a top 3 pick it would be pointless as we can't develop young talent.

and you obviously dont take note of draftees b4 they enter the afl.
Jy would have gobe 3-5 in the draft, had it not been for his broken leg (broke leg in first match last year)
his "average" kicking will get a lot better as he builds the strength back in the legs.

Hold on a minute - their was Johnny Burns and Keith Greig (and probably Matty Larkin) between those era's. But yes he is a candyman is Jy.
Great names you mention there mate (as your username suggests, of course).

Had a real soft spot for Matty Larkin and of course Keith Grieg's record and the quality of his skills go without saying.

I can't say, hand on heart, that I actually remember seeing John Burns play. I have some memories of the first flag in 1975 but was just a boy of 7 then so the recall is sketchy at best.

However Burnsy played for my WAFL team East Perth before heading to North and my old man was always a big rap for him. Said that he was especially good in the wet and "used to grow another leg" - is that your recollection?

But getting back to young Jy, yep I'm expecting a few Freo supporters over here next week to be scratching their heads and asking "who?" when they see some of the candy that will be on offer.

Johhny had a great baulk (selling candy) before it became a 'thing' - it was almost an instinctive reaction. Kicked 4-5 goals in our first flag i recall from the centre - i presume he would have won the norm smith that year if there was one. He run a pub/restaurant in North till a few years ago which was very nice.

Cheers mate - shame I'm a bit far away to have popped in for a drink and a meal.

Goal of the year if he kicked it.

Also the moment my son first heard the phrase " that's bullsh*t, umpire!"
Without a doubt. As I mentioned in the autopsy thread, I was already out of my seat and unleashed the expletives when he called it out.
