Just on this, both players went head first to get the ball Brennan got their first and got the ball and went away with it. Goldy arrived a split second too late and copped a shoulder to the head. If Brennan goes for that then we may as well give up on body contact in the game. On the LT one, Shuey got him with his bicep when he threw his elbow back. Clearly got him and it will be looked at but there is no way he generated enough force to send him to the ground like that. I have been hit in the jatz crackers a couple time when fielding in indoor cricket a lot harder then he would have been hit and it never send you to the turf. Just like blokes in international cricket cop one at 150kmh in the nuts and they don't drop like a sack of potatoes they go to their haunches for a bit then get up. If he didn't play for the free so much it may well have been reversed.
There is no way that Brennan will get anything for that. That was just 2 blokes going for the ball and there was no head contact. Goldy simply didn't see it coming. But there was nothing untoward. Shuey is a different issue, as was the umpires reaction. I think we're well within our rights to be complaining about that.

I think LT might be the victim of the old story "the boy who cried wolf, once too offten".
He seems to have rubbed the umps up the wrong way and now he and us are going to pay for it
I actually thought he went back to some of his old diving ways yesterday although not the one with Shuey
Exactly the point I made in another thread. We do have a few players who do that a bit too often for my liking.

Luke shuey 2 weeks for striking Thomas, this is not the incident where umpire told him to get up is it.
I presume it is mate as I can't remember another. Schuey can't get off* either due to his record.

*unless he appeals.

Did I hear someone else copped a week for tripping Atley? I was in the car and didn't hear it clearly.

Yeah Lynch

And on the Thomas one, surely the umpire deserves a please explain for that, in fact we should have got a free for it, right in front of goal.

Quinten Lynch, West Coast, has been charged with a Level Two tripping offence against Shaun Atley, North Melbourne, during the first quarter of the Round 15 match between West Coast and North Melbourne, played at Blundstone Arena on Saturday July 7, 2012.

In summary, due to his previous poor record, his one-match sanction must remain at one match, even with an early plea.

Based on the video evidence available and a medical report from the North Melbourne Football Club, the incident was assessed as intentional conduct (three points), low impact (one point) and body contact (one point). This is a total of five activation points, resulting in a classification of a Level Two offence, drawing 125 demerit points and a one-match sanction. He has an existing bad record of one match suspended within the last three years, increasing the penalty by 10 per cent to 137.50 demerit points and a one-match sanction. An early plea reduces the penalty by 25 per cent to 103.13 points and a one-match sanction.

FFS. Have you ever done it? You really are the lowest of the low. Having a go at people that volunteer to umpire a game you love to watch. If you hate them so much why not do it yourself?
Volunteer?!

I don't agree with umpire bashing either though. But in this instance I thought he was out of line. Maybe LTs previous diving history is why the umpire took that line, but either way its simply not on.

Next time you come over to Melbourne I look forward to hitting you in the jatz crackers and watching you take it like a man. I will even buy you a beer afterwards, but you may not feel like drinking it.

And correct me if I'm wrong but don't cricketers wear protectors? That helps.

We try to be fair and judge each incident on its merits and still people are blind in one eye and can't see out of the other.

Possible that they also expect contact, you know, as opposed to standing over a player when there isn't even a contest happening...

This is one guy I just can't figure out and his game vs WC on Sat sums him up perfectly - his first half was terrific - his second half was diabolical. Personally, I feel he has too many deficiencies in his game to be a CONSISTENT performer at AFL level but I can see he does have some talent and he's not a lost cause. But man, he is doing my head in this season. If his season/career continues like this, book me in for electro-convulsive therapy.

Pros:
Finds the ball.
Generates numerous shots at goal/game.
Can pass the ball with penetration.
Can do the miraculous.
Has the potential to injure opponents.

Cons:
Kicking for goal is a lottery.
Unable to keep his feet.
Gives away sloppy/silly free-kicks.
Flies indiscriminately for marks, usually unrealistically.
Has the potential to Injure team-mates.

So yeah, he's got me totally stuffed. Am I alone?
