I am more concerned about his clangers per game (CG) against total disposals (D).
Does HRS get enough of the ball or is it his role within the team?

He busts his arse running up and down the wing, but his defensive game still leaves a bit to be desired. It might not be a popular opinion, but with KMac gone, we really need a more defensively minded wing who competes strongly in the air.
Who is this first gamer, MacIntosh and Polo got BOG's their first game as well.
Not saying he is a staying long term, but he has improved many aspects of his game and we have nobody better right now.

As I said, he is learning this role, and by and large improving in that respects. Took some good defensive marks this year and is a much better mark than MacIntosh who for his size was a pretty poor mark. Agree he has to be stronger defensively, but that is improving.

HRS runs hard and goes for those relieving defensive marks but his actual defending is garbage. Seriously needs to work on it, because he's constantly outbodied in the contest.

First gamers can ambush opponents who have not been able to go to school on them. Ralphsmith is not regularly outmarked deep in defence by opponents.
In any event, in the game in question where Clarke scored 3 goals, Hugo scored 2 himself and had 3 score launches to zero, and rated higher than his opponent.
Hugo is getting healthy amounts of spoils, tackles and pressure acts for a winger. He isn't Robbie Flower, but Hugo's presence in the team is no problem for Richmond.

Just a thought, given our wings are not a strong point, what about changing things up. We want to get games into Trainor in the back half, why not take Broad out and play him on the wing.
He would certainly fulfil the defensive wingman category. He is a very good runner, brave, good overhead, quick and has only a season or two left. In that time Trainor gets going and another wingman should be coming through.

Thats why he is far from Richmonds immediate problems and HRS is guaranteed best 23 for another 2 years until free agency and if he is no longer required will be allowed to leave

I hope other players are putting pressure on HRS to ensure he is not a automatic selection each week.

No need. His body is fine for a winger. If he found balls to not dog a contest is what he lacks. But Stengel did in the grand final. And Brandon Ellis never been Francis Bourke but had a long career
