I understand that but you know there is a Shittard thread also?

So whats that got to do with anything ?

I could have also posted this in the Richmond autopsy thread.

Would you have also deemed that to have been inappropriate ?

And how does that affect you personally ?

Does it bother you and keep you up at night if posters post comments in the wrong thread ?

Pathetic performance to be honest.

Less than half his kicks were effective.
Several blokes claimed =2nd for clangers with 4, he won in a landslide with 8.
Poor defensive work considering he played more in the guts than usual.

Even when not under pressure he absolutely ******* ruined a few kicks, just horrible.

Did have one ripper backwards/sideways kick on the 50, but other than that not sure I was impressed with a single thing he did all night.

I know he can perform at a very high level. Highly skilled etc.

I'm being honest.

I simply don't like him and how he plays.

(not personal or saying it's fair, just I can't warm to him at all. I loved Waitey for example and now Walker)

I can relate to the not warming to him bit. Never sits well with me when you know someone has joined the club purely for the money. Good luck to him and who can blame him but for me I don’t want that to be the sole reason why someone joins.

Trade bait? about 15 before him you'd get rid of first. Has been average this year though.

Immense today. Didn't start in his traditional spot today but was awesome. A lot of repeated efforts and class in the contest.
Does some real classy things with ball in hand and thought it was one of his better games.

Mainly agree, he's definitely class, but he has to stop turning back into trouble in the backline. Did it at least three times today.

Brad playing swallow as a small forward has now been eclipsed in stupidity by playing Polec as a tagger on Cripps. At least it only lasted a quarter and didn’t effect anything, but my god, who bought up that and who said ok?
Might have cost us the game secured a top three pick.

what if, with half the side out of contract, Shaw sent North's highest paid player to match up on the opposition's highest paid player, just to let everyone see the difference?

You've posted this a couple of times but I still don't get it. Why would the coach be trying to do some sort of market value exercise?

I struggle to see this Merlin. We paid lots to extract Polec from Port because we wanted those type of skills on a wing. We needed someone with skills to play that role and we knew what we were getting. We didn't make him our highest paid player to go head to head with blokes like Cripps. Just like we wouldn't decide that he's our highest paid player so next time we play the Giants, he's going to match up on Jeremy Cameron for a quarter so we can see the difference between the two.
I don't have a good reason for why he played on Cripps but I don't think it was to demonstrate how our highest player who isn't a centre clearance specialist looks when being played out of position against their highest paid player who is a centre clearance specialist.

I have a theory that Shaw is frustrated with him and sees more potential in Jared that isn’t being tapped. Some small things of late that may be nothing or may be a pattern:
named on bench the other week
started on Cripps yesterday
after kicking a goal yesterday he tried to rotate off, looked frustrated at not getting a rest. Cut to Shaw in the box shaking his head, Polec doesn’t get a rest.

I reckon Shaw is challenging him to step up in all areas: particularly onfield leadership and doing the defensive things as consistently as the offensive. IMO he’s close to our most important attacking player and it’s not about quashing that but rather challenging him to become a more complete player.

FWIW I really like Polec but he frustrates me with some efforts that look cursory - this can be the case with smoother movers but he makes some dumb errors for such a skilful player. I think he can take another step and I hope that Shaw does too, and that he is dishing out a bit of tough love. Polec will play for us for another 6/7 years at least, he’s not gonna develop a right foot but he could certainly improve in lots of little areas.
