Hopefully. GC will probably be saying a forward line of JL, 2MP, King, Ainsworth, Martin and Rankine will be the best forward line in the comp. At the end of the day they are just names and only Fisher and Cripps have played to the level so far.
The pressure fully goes onto Bolts and Co now to get the best out of these kids.

The only caveat to that, is that a team only has so many spots on a list and the ability to get games into so many players. If you are wasting 4 list spots to find a player your list management will struggle. Give me the low risk potential gun every day.

Carlton's firsts and seconds have gaps needed to be filled. Furthermore, you can't just build from blue chip assets, you need to supplement them with later picks. Regarding the picks in the 30s, Carlton is rebuilding, so cycling through a few picks in the 30s to see if they're good won't do them any harm.

But sure, I wouldn't have given up pick one for five on the 30s. I wasn't suggesting that would make sense. My point is bigfooty often overestimates the value of high picks and underestimates the value of later picks. Pick one for five in the 30s would be bad. What SOS did though was smart.

WOW, if GC hang onto those players and they develop as expected, that’s one scary forward line... if.

Like us here, they simply haven't got the whole picture.

This was a very calculated selection and without knowing what next years plans are, it's a sort of futile discussion.

Been flat out the last month and haven't been active on here. I knew Wash was a given and switched off after we took him at 1. Get up this morning to see this. WOW!!!!. Had to read every post in this thread.

Who cares what we have given up and where the crows or we finish next year. The kid looks quality give him 2 years with Russel and look out. We will have a very handy midfield when we are in our window, mosquito fleet MKII. We took the risk we had take, if this kid is rated high by us why wait for next year.

I think our minds are clouded by our ladder position and results this year. A fit injury free list plus the additions over the last month will see a significant improvement in our win loss ratio. based on this this move was a great choice.

We need to trust in SOS and his team, they are not monkeys. I am going to enjoy watching our midfield develop and start ripping everyone a new one.

Thx for the research Dravid. Not how i remembered it. I'm sure he had Setters higher and Andy lower. Maybe he altered it or it was something he said in a follow up....or more likely, maybe my memory was wrong.
