Does come across as the type where nothing seems to overawe/phase them, I guess it comes down to a flight or fright response.
Some blokes do it because they're too dumb to feel fear, some because they don't pick up on the danger of the moment until later. I knew a young bloke, who didn't possess an ounce of awareness of his own danger. Was probably the best young opener/bat I'd seen in a long time, because you could sledge him and he wouldn't even notice the words spoken even if you got right in his face. Water off a duck's back.

In Viney's - and hopefully Liam's - case, I think it's more relishing the contact, wanting it and needing to know that it's going to happen. Tom Mitchel and Oliver are not like that, they're all about the ball, but Mitch Robinson, Viney, Hodge, Parker, they need the contact to play the ball. It's necessary to them, knowing that their opponent is flinching because they're in so hard and early, not a skerrick of hesitation in them.

Different, see. Like the difference between Border and Langer. One of them is impervious to sledging, the other bloke needs it to get them going.

The Paddy Cripps selection in 2013 by Rogers was astonishingly brave at the time. Just imagine if we didn't have Paddy at the club last season ? Would we have actually won a game. Lets remember how badly run the club was run in the time of the Hughes and Rogers regime (esp woth recruiting and player development resources).

I wake up every morning counting my blessings that Patrick Cripps is a Carlton player.
I rather think that, if we did not have Cripps in 2015 when SOS took over, the way we would've drafted would have gone very differently.

And I actually think we would've won roughly the same number of games last year in his absence as what we did with him. When you're deprived of a dominant presence like that, you have to find alternative methods to find victory, and often that kind of forced innovation leads to brilliance.

The well chosen example of which you speak does not exemplify of which I speak

Using draft pick pints in any argument is useless - you could have ten 10th round picks and they would probably 'equate' to a first round pick, but do they really?

And people get hung-up on next year - we are picking Stocker not for 2019 but for the next 10-12 years. Add to that, how many no.1 draft picks have we had and how many have played in a premiership? overated no.1 draft picks - its not the number you get drafted but how the club develops you and drafts players as a collective
So is Sam Walsh worth 3000 pints over his career?

Does that mean thats how many he shouts? Or gets shouted?

I mean, thats a lot of beer.

Don't think this has been mentioned, but if the Club really did have Stocker ranked much higher...let's say 10 for the sake of the discussion...then the trade is really Carl 2019 1st rounder for Adel 2019 first rounder and 2018 pick 10.

That's the way the Club would be assessing it. Gives it a different look. Either way, he looks like he could be a beauty.

His highlights package is better then Walsh's, exciting stuff and potentially for free.

Have to wait for next years selections to decide how well we have done here.
