I know that I would rather be the club that makes a profit from home games with mid-high 30 thousand attendance averages, compared to making a loss with the 20k average. Wouldn't you, D_One? Surely you would rather your team make a profit from attendances each home game than a loss, no matter the ladder position?

Also, I went to that GWS home game (Saturday Twilight) and it rained reasonably heavily for majority of the game. Was a similar level of rain to what the Sydney (Saturday Night) game was the season prior (which I also went to). There was I think about 5-6k more attendees to this years game against an expansion team who I counted had a massive 11 members in the cheersquad, with about 10 more GWS supporters sitting in the general vicinity, in that bay and the 2 neighbouring bays. Being from out of the city, I found the night game easier to get to than that twilight game and many others from the country would agree with me. We managed about 28k to a game in an inconvenient time-slot, with foul weather, against an expansion team. How many home games this year have Port got more than 28k to? I can only think of 1 - that being the showdown. Are there any more?

It's neither. I used the more aggressive method to detect the outlier. Which would exclude extra ordinarily large corwd figures too. By using Q1- and Q3+ it is more conservative on both sides. If you define which measure you use before hand and a valid reason.... ie small sample size, as the statistician I get to choose which I see as more valid. You will see why I used this method later.
