Because a few years ago when you won the Flag in 2004 your teams supporters acted like your teams poo didnt stink Thinking that your team was never going to be crap.

I know by now you all are sick of the moving average/trends/graphing lecture (demonstration)

Here is an example of how including finals figures can make a downward trend look worse than it is. In fact finals are a bonus to the club as mostly there is a sell out, plus the extra money on consessions, memorabilia etc.

Notice that in regular season games the trend line for the Crows is about 40K. The regular season + finals boosts the trend line up to 42K. Since this years crowd does not have finals and the last 2 years were dismal, the 5 year moving average drops sharply as 3 of the final 5 years are quite low. If you look at the longer term trend, the last two years can be viewed as a hiccup and this year sees a rebound in crowd numbers. In fact if the Crows were to get one or 2 home finals the 2nd graph could rebound even more quickly. So it is up to the person making the graph how long they choose the moving average they want to use.



Previously I have been hesitant to use crowd figures before 2004 as stadium redevelopments can impact crowd numbers, but infact using real rather than inflated numbers every year from 1991 can be used accurately.




Next I will take out Showdowns, but this will take some time as I have to re-calculate averages.

The Swans have over one million supporters (http://www.roymorgan.com/news/press-releases/2011/1424/index.cfm?printversion=yes), regularly rate over 250K on Sydney TV, are top of the table, play in either a 80K or 34K stadium, were technically insolvent last year, are averaging 22K this year and have had a 17K crowd against Brisbane and a 13K crowd against the Doggies.

The AFL have saved you a few times now. If the SANFL keep ******* it up for us the AFL will have no choice but to take our licence from them and prop us up for a while too.

Your still blaming others as for swans membership seeing as you don't love the club feel free to **** off.

Also As for funding the AFL stepped in once to save us which was in 93 now although the funding was rolled out over a number of years it was all part of that one planned stepping stone before that we had private backers that gave a shit about the club and helped us out not the VFL not the AFL the AFL only stepped in when they realised our importance to a national game, since then we have only received finding through the same methods as everyone else that is Club grants and disequalisation our salary cap concession comes from our own money it only allows us to pay our players more it's not funded.

And Club grants and disequalisation package of which your beloved port Adelaide now receive far more then the swans you placed 1-2 most years in total allocation between 06-10 and I doubt that has changed.

You can keep spreading myths like the crows are doing badly or that the AFL has stepped in several times to save Sydney but that doesn't make it true.

And once again we are at you taking aim at another club rather then deal with your in house bullshit. You carry on about the SANFL, but where are you and the rest of your members on this? Why don't you do something? And further more how does proving how much work my team still have left to do improve your clubs standing at all?

Here is a graph of the Home Games including finals I have previously posted with a 5 year moving average.
If Showdowns are removed as regular season home games (like D_One's Graph) look at the subtle but noticeable difference it makes to the "drop off" at the end. It accentuates it in the graph, the red line is clearly below the black line that includes the Showdowns during the last 3 years. In the last 3 years the Showdown crowds are quite a bit above average so excluding them drops the whole average for that year.



I know you non-numbers people are really bored, but I think someone better be careful before calling others a "lying sack of shit" because infact he has been very sneakily lying this whole time in an attempt to troll.

And that my friend is the last time and private consortium will buy anything from the AFL. The Swans are still owned by the AFL. And good luck to them. If your talking about the 400,000 then you might want to look at where that came from this was from SMFC's it was a loan from the ground improvement fund of which we had been denied and locked out of years previous one of the many reason souths were failing in the first place, you also gloss over fact that this was forcing our hand finally it wasn't charity.

Several companies tried helping out souths by buying memberships only to be blocked, the VFL want us out and did everything it could to send us north finally they succeeded. The loan of course was paid back by eggleston.

Many blokes still put cash into the club eggleston was a greedy prick he didn't love souths and in the end left in a huff it was the rest of the backers that sat down and decided this style of running the club wasn't going to be successful long term, they had already decided to return the club to a member based set up when the AFL stepped in. North's privatisation came after that so it was the last time ethier.
