Callum Mills

Callum Mills is one of the best young players in the AFL. The QBE Sydney Swans Academy graduate won the 2016 AFL Rising Star award and was selected in the AFL Players’ Association’s 22Under22 team in three of his four eligible years. Mills is a small defender with uncompromising courage who’s also capable of shifting through the midfield. The New South Welshman was elevated to Sydney’s leadership group during the 2018 pre-season at the age of just 21, and he’s now a member of a five-man leadership panel alongside co-captains Josh Kennedy, Luke Parker and Dane Rampe, as well as Lance Franklin.

Callum Mills
DOB: 02 April 1997
DEBUT: 2016
DRAFT: #3, 2015 National Draft
RECRUITED FROM: North Shore (NSW)

Look, he's a Muppet,

But I think it's rediculous to say that he can't live a life outside of football. If he wants to wrestle mates he can wrestle mates.

If he's truly a professional, all it will cost him is his free time over the summer when he could have spent it doing other things instead. Now, he needs to work tirelessly over the offseason to get himself in good nick just to get back to scratch.

Thank goodness our facilities have improved otherwise he would have been even more miserable in the old dungeon.

The one positive to come out of this is that no one will be more angry with, disappointed in, and embarrassed by this whole situation than Mills himself.

We've never really seen a Callum Mills with a point to prove and a debt to pay, because he's hardly put a foot wrong since he walked in the door. So there's an opportunity there.

The thing is, there's wrestling and then there's wrestling. How bloody hard must you have been wrestling to injure yourself so badly you need a full shoulder reconstruction? He stepped over the line and should have been fully aware of it at the time as club captain. That's your job, think of the situation and the risks involved. He's paid a very high price for the risk. And if he had a pre existing injury then that just makes this worse. Should not have put himself in that situation at all.

Better that it happened before trade period. Hopefully we can find an inside mid because it sounds like his season is potentially at risk.

we should trade mills ... while he's still got one good shoulder
do i win something for biggest overreaction so far?

amazing how many posters are happy to dismiss, ignore, castigate and condemn various footy media reports (and reporters) but right now, not even friggin october 2023, and suddenly sam edmund et al are 100% correct with their calls on the state of mills' shoulder and his fate for the 2024 season
