Outside of Sunday's 22? Yep, wouldn't disagree with that
More freakish....this could re-open the great "what is talent" debate.

For mine Ridley is a more certain proposition. At worst he will be a versatile, highly skilled defender. It's his balance and movement that set him apart...for Me anyway, ultimately it's all in the eye of the beholder.

I'd love to see him play on smalls, so we can use him as a bit of a Mackie type versatile defender.

I'm hoping a combo of Hurley, Ambrose/Hartley and Francis can be our three main KPDs next year, and I'm interested to see if Ridley can also find a spot.

May very well end up a midfielder of some sort as be gets older, but playing on smalls in defence is probably a quicker way to get him into the firsts.

Ridley plays on smalls similar to how Fletcher did. Out smarts them

I've only had the joy of seeing him play 5 quarters this year, and he was either a bit loose in defence or next to a tall bloke. Bht that's great if it's already happening.

Im basing this off his TAC games, he does play a bit loose because he would back himself in to win the ball. Was never caught out badly in TAC playing on smalls.

The role gleeson has to be his?

Add Mutch and possibly Clarke if he sorts out his disposal. And ambrose has missed a lot.
Bags - ambrose
Kelly - Ridley
Laverde - Goddard
Begley - green
Francis - not sure who he replaces role wise.
Mutch - jobe.
Our depth starts to run out there
Mutch not more likely to take the Stanton role? I thought he was a running receive and distribute type?
...and that Clarke would take the inside role Jobe has.

at tac level played as much as a midfielder and forward as he did a defender
ridley grew 10 or so cm really quickly which means he is still learning to play "tall"

That would go some way to explaining the back injury he had too.

And how he put on so much weight so quickly.

For me he's the most intriguing player on our list. Moves and runs well enough to be a genuine small defender that just happens to be 6 foot 5, and the way he navigates traffic indicates to me that he's could well be worth a shot further afield.

Mutch doesn't mind going inside for some contested ball, even if his size means he probably shouldn't.
He's quite balanced for a mid. Lovely skills on both sides and competitive at the stoppages.
If Stanton was in the 22, i'd probably say Mutch for him, but given he isn't i went with Jobe. As i think Mutch is ahead of Clark in terms of a debut. I could be completely wrong of course. Clarke does bring a tough, inside game and we severely need that.

Once ready, we'll have some good depth and pressure on spots. And will only add to that with the upcoming drafts.
Hence, I'm keen to avoid trading out 1st's & 2nd's for the next couple of years for a single superstar player.

Baguley talking him up a bit in that Bomber Radio interview this week: http://www.essendonfc.com.au/news/2017-07-26/working-class-milestone

Don't look now, but among other things he's apparently 'laconic' xD Along with silky, skilful, easy going, enjoys training and working hard, needs to build aerobic base and strength but is working hard in the gym, probably play senior footy soon, going to be a good player.

does that mean we have a tall small fwd in stewart and a tall small def in ridley-

we are bringing up a freakish list of anomolies

Jordan Ridley

The first year player spent time in the forward half during the match against Footscray.

His ability to read the play remained despite the change of scenery and he finished with 17 possessions, ten marks and a goal.

Ridley could have had a second goal when he showed a nice burst of speed to run away from an opponent but his shot at goal hit the post.

He’s only played nine games so far this season, but he’s looked impressive on each occasion.

Gotta love Gussy in that clip. Perfect tackle albeit a bit low. No forward momentum. I reckon he thought for a split second that he could still get that ball back, but given all that, took the dive anyway.

Essendon defender, Jordan Ridley, will see a specialist this morning after suffering an ankle injury at training last week.

High Performance Manager, Justin Crow, said the Club is positive he will be available for selection round one.

“Jordan hurt his ankle at training in a tackle, he will see a specialist today and we are optimistic that he will be available certainly for round one and possibly JLT,” Crow said.

The specialist will determine whether the 19 year old will need to undergo surgery later today.
