It NOT concussion GWS have said that
I thought Ladhams was stiff to be dropped so would be ok with him coming in to move things around to accommodate for Melican's absence.
Now, hear me out (or tell me to piss off). If we don't want to mess with Francis and Hamling as a winning formula up front, is trialling McLean down back the worst idea of all time? Big body, can stick a mark, and at the very least makes a contest and brings the ball to ground well.
No he's not the quickest or most agile, but neither is Melican to be fair.

Why don't you just except itIt’s still a subbing out with a head knock. In today’s game it basically is that. He’s lucky it’s only 3. If anything we have got fortunate
Why don't you just except it
Especially to those pricks that don't keep left.should be able to walk down the footpath and stick an arm out I reckon
Yeah exactly. He had to contest. He just contested poorly and was unfortunate to get the face. Better option would have been body behind the ball and take him out cleanly with eyes on ball. But that's a scary thing to do. He's just unlucky. What do you think Lewis could do going flat out to get the ball , it's a real worry on here at times
Not your Bombers hat on is it ! i give upIt's a head knock, you want to call it a non concussion one that's fine, but he was subbed out and won't be playing this week. The punishment fits the offence, there should be no debate on it. it was always going to be 3 at best, 4 would have sufficed.
I get the defensiveness when it's your own player, but you can't look at that incident and think Melican has any excuse. If that was Toby Green doing that to Melican we'd be calling for his deregistration. Not your Bombers hat on is it ! i give up

It was a pretty poor contest from Melican. Deserves the 3. In fact his judgement was so poor it wasn't far off being classed an off the ball strike. That's how no where near it he was. And that's even before looking at the fact he clearly went for a fisted coat hanger. Looked like he lined him up before it was too late to realise what he had just done. Lucky to get away with 3.
wonder what Heeney said
bet they fine him or shit
I'm a fan of McLean but his two biggest weaknesses militate against him being an effective defender - lack of agility and acceleration/closing speed. Nope. Forward or second ruck he can be good with his strengths.I thought Ladhams was stiff to be dropped so would be ok with him coming in to move things around to accommodate for Melican's absence.

The umpires are still amateurs. They train once a week. Should be professional. The other thing is AFL keep rewriting the rules making it terribly hard for them. After all the poor darlings are not bright and they want them to interpret? Stupid AFLi clearly referenced the gameday thread.
Yes, but as good as the win was it just brings the overarching question of how the hell umpiring like today can still happen in a said to be professional league
Bedford is a mouthy bugger. Maybe he upset LewieAfter all the talking Bedford did in the week, I'm glad someone gave him a derby (and black eye) to remember.![]()

I prefer them being shit for both sides rather than clearly for some reason favouring 1 side.
Toby got frees for ducking that he never gets
Yes and the Canberra umpire was the worstBecause nothing is being done to even attempt to improve it.
Today was something else tho i watched Lloyd get coathanged the umpire was a few meters away "play on" and then 10secs later gets Heeney for "HTB"
Thats team bias or instruction rather than a 50/50 going against us.
Really? He kicks 60 metre goals. Not everyone can do that. Great tackler. Fast. He is playing one of the most unrewarding positions. The wing. A lot of running for no reward. Macca when he is on the wing plays as an extra mid. Campbell is on the wrong side wing. Only used if very free. He gets his own ball most of the time. He has to and is good one on one. I think he is already a valuable and valued playerI think the reality is Campbell wont make it he doesnt have any standout or emerging attributes with 5 seasons in a successful club.
Like there is just nothing there as a player so far and i dont see it changing.
How many 60 m goals has he kicked ? how many set shots has he missedReally? He kicks 60 metre goals. Not everyone can do that. Great tackler. Fast. The AFL USA Private School Boys ClubMy enjoyment of the AFL has diminished greatly over the last 10 years and this game was a perfect encapsulation of why.
The AFL is run by a bunch of incompetent nitwits who are more concerned with feasting at the trough and maintaining there's and their friends positions in the AFL than actually doing anything of value.
The umpiring, which approached the quality of the 2016 grand final, made what should have been a stirring and exciting game into a frustrating reminder that the AFL admin will continue to try and kill the golden goose to make just one more dollar.
They will never try and "fix" the umpiring nor even admit there is an issue, if they did someone might start asking questions as to who is to blame and what changes need to be made and that may result in one of the boys club members being dislodged from the organisation and we just can't have that.
So the AFL will continue on with fans hoping the administrators of the game rise to a level of mediocrity that at this stage seems so far in the distance.
On the bright side
Wicks hasn't missed a beat after his week off and is continuing to show that he is this years biggest improvement to the side.
McInerney still needs to improve his awareness in contests and make some better decisions but his clearance work for someone who is not an inside mid was very promising and he is showing the ability to be able to rack up disposals and have an impact across four quarters.
Warner looks to be coming close to his best and is just so hard to stop in the chaos of the contest.
And lastly the commitment and trust from the coaches to play both Hamling and Francis and give them the responsibility to stop their defender from taking easy intercept marks was great to see. I was never a Longmire hater but even I could see that his unwillingness to man up on defenders, who would often kill us with intercept marking and rebound, was very damaging in more than a few games.

Fair enough. Little thought bubble but you're probably right.I'm a fan of McLean but his two biggest weaknesses militate against him being an effective defender - lack of agility and acceleration/closing speed. Nope. Forward or second ruck he can be good with his strengths.
He's a ratBedford got what he asked for. Said he 'hates' the Swans. Fair enough, well here's your Melican fist sandwich.
