Like others, I was really disappointed in his game last night. He just didn't look like his head was in the game, which is odd given we were a sneaky chance of winning.

By comparison, I'm happy with what Hopper is giving us this season. A valuable contributor each week. Not an A-grade mid, but I don't worry about us getting bullied around the football when Hopper is in the middle.
hop's would be top 3 if not leading the Jack Dyer medal count now.
Body is holding up and he is invested in the games.

im not sure you watched Hopper's disposal last night? Id rather get bullied and make a play than show strength and butcher the football.

Off game and still kicked 2 goals and had a heap of disposals as well. Not worrying about Timmy.
You might want to check how much disposals the Bombers mids had, Taranto only had 23 disposals that's not much considering how much time he spends in the midfield. he had a lot of lazy efforts last night, he would be the fittest bloke on the list by a mile yet still didn't chase at times, you see Tom Brown chasing and he is way younger.

He must have been playing injured I think. Has to be that
Will Ferrell Agree GIF

Looked tired. Will let him off as it’s hard to carry the load weekly
TT has a tagger hanging off him most of the time and will make regular 2nd, 3rd and 4th efforts so no wonder he shanks a couple and can look laconic at times when catching his breath. needs to be that 40% mid, 40% fwd and 20% pine time player.

hopper can be the 75% bull and get kmac2, sonz, clark, campbell, banks, meatball, young smith and ross as the support crew. Kmac gets in there if someone needs to have the clamps put on.

Doesnt matter what anyone says about TT, the fan boys going to defend him to the hilt.

Essendon mids destroyed us.

Our midfield isn't great so no shock.

We had K-mac and Sampson Ryan playing a lot in there as well so that doesn't help.

TT is allowed to have some off days I would've thought. At the end of the day he is here to be a big body and help protect the younger kids.

He's for the most part been pretty good and still has been elite defensively in pressure acts and tackling. He isn't going to carry the team.

Watching live at the ground, Essendon just seemed to have far more numbers everywhere on the ground. We were outnumbered at every contest. Wasn't simply just Taranto having a lack of effort, our system and outside game is just poor and developing.

He has an off day when he needs to make space and use the football well.

His defensive work is shithouse, Because when he makes a tackle he is standing or positioning right next to the player.
He stalks the player, waits for the player to take possession, and then tackles, which does nothing but reset the bounce.

These little big things are going unnoticed here. It's like he plays for the stat sheet.

Essendon had more numbers at the ball because they are more mobile, TT, Hopper and Ross are not mobile.
They're flat footed. This has been discussed 100 times in here, but still people don't get it. Its obvious.

So if you look at it from a pure football perspective, they're not very good midfielders.

TT should be tried as a forward pocket player to see how he goes. not sure what to do with hopper.

We don't have JR and a young lynch to pluck wayward kicks in hope, we need measured disposal.

We are in serious need of good, fast midfielders.

Taranto is averaging 85.6% time on ground this season, that is very high for an inside mid and this allows the younger players to get longer breaks off the ground. This is the highest percentage in Taranto's career. It probably explains why Taranto is not looking too energetic on the field at times.

All his stats are looking really healthy, including coaches votes(he got 1 on the weekend) and player ratings, which are at a career high. Obviously there are some better midfielders around, but Taranto is doing a great job for us while we try to find some match winning mids of the future.

Don’t get me wrong, I like Tim and respect him, however is he the sort of player we’d look to trade if we need draft capital? Not many others on our list would fetch what he could, and he’s replaceable.

He's a lifer with us, we aint trading him. He is not the sexiest player ever, but he is just what we need while developing our next gen midfield. And he is a perfectly decent player. We are getting very close to having all the talent we need at the club, so we won't need more draft picks, absolutely no need to trade Taranto.

Taranto is a good mid, he just isn't a centre bounce mid. Doesn't win enough centre clearances and is part of our issue IMO

Around the ground he is more than fine, I can see why GWS played him as a half forward that pushed up and down the ground.
