so much of the leadership group from 2 years ago have been delisted/ requested trades. It's just Ziebull, Cunners and Goldy now. That's a massive turnover.

All trace of Scott/Joyce era wiped out pretty much. Brutal but necessary I think. Surely Dumont gets a go somewhere else: Noble’s determination to play McDonald as a defensive winger, plus Scott and Taylor developing, plus Stevo, TT, Polec means there just wasn’t a spot for him. Also seems a decisive break from Scott’s practice of keeping average mature role players as depth.

You watch Langdon in the GF and it just makes you understand exactly why his position was under threat. Working back was important but it just isn't enough.

We are now willing the new younger generation to lead. We only have a small amount left from our last era to help oversee the change over. Our new leaders now will be making decisions of their own . When you have quite a number of the old school looking over your shoulder it can be a bit intimidating. It’s time for the next regime to take effect. Hopefully we get Premierships from this new group.

It's not like we have a team full of 1-3 year draftees. We have experience in the back half and the middle and while we are young in the forward half again the majority have at least 4 years experience so should be starting to lead on the ground.

Crazy decision. Surely Dumont is better on the list than a speculative draft pick who we train up and plays one game and is out the door. Really bad decision this once. Are they expecting Cunnington to be the same player after his diagnosis? Roughead and Doc weren’t. We have a player in the right age bracket, is defensive, plays a role and we chuck him to the curb for Tom Lynch or a speculative draft pick.

He's not going to be replaced by a speculative draft pick in the 22, it's going to be a young player who's already on the list getting more midfield time at AFL level. We're going to have a serious squeeze with midfielders next year, even with a couple of injuries we'd still have trouble fitting all of Simpkin, LDU, Thomas, Cunnington, Anderson, Powell, Phillips, Stephenson, Scott, and Lazzaro into the same midfield. Scott, Phillips and Lazzaro all dominated the VFL and looked a level above when they played there, you've got to find room for these guys in the middle at the top level for the sake of their development, and it probably would've been Trent giving way for them, especially if his current form trajectory continued.

Are any of those midfielders the position Froggy plays as the defensive mid? We are replacing him with a speculative pick no matter what you say. It has to be a squad mentality. You need to have 30-35 players Able of holding it up at AFL level. Frog is 25, can play a role, has much more value than a speculative draft pick. Remember Josh Williams? He tore it up at times in the VFL and nothing. Xerri and Campbell both dominate in the VFL but can’t translate to consistent AFL footy. Frog has a lot more value. You can’t have all the same type in the midfield. Should have given Frog another year atleast and let those players push him out. It’s about creating demand and not just gifting them because they show something. Powell and Phillips could easily have second year blues. Pagan wouldn’t have gifted games to players, you earn them.

Hardly fair to lump Xerri in with Campbell, Xerri was going fine before he got injured as opposed to Campbell who's been around for a decade without ever really cementing a spot. Anyway, we're not going to be able to fit all the players I listed anyway, they're going to be competing with each other and pushing each other out, especially the young guys. I think Scott and Lazzaro both have a lot of potential as defensive midfielders, Scott with his physicality and Lazzaro with his hard running, both have absolutely earned senior games and found themselves out of the side at times last year when they probably didn't deserve to be.
