In Scott's defense, bloody tough call to drop anyone this week.
As he put in the press conference, "you cant fit 23 players into 22".

However, I personally feel that Dumont was more deserving than both JMac and Turner.

Hopefully now that he has had a taste, he will blitz it in the 2's and be back in shortly.

I thought bringing Dumont in for his first game vs Geelong, into the last quarter was a masterstroke.

He came on when the pace had gone out of the game. And was more of a slog.

As a result, Dumont fitted in beautifully and had a massive impact in that last qtr.

Last week, would you have rathered he started on the ground in the first quarter ? When north were jumped and Geelong were running riot ?

What would that have done to his confidence ?

This week, is a totally different ground/opponent.

Reigning premiers on the rebound, on a perfect track. It will be hard and super fast.

I dont mind Dumont sitting this one out, if we have other players who are more experienced and know what to expect on Saturday night.

Dumont will get his chances. It just a matter of easing him in.

We all know it is a long season and the younger bodies normally get worn out as the wet and colder conditions come.

Dumont's time will come, as it has with Wood and Brown.

(But I wouldnt be surprised if he is a late change)....

deserved his spot for his cameo, even if it was as sub again. there were a few who deserved to go before him.
It's a difficult one, like Johnny99 said.

I personally think Dumont is capable of playing a decent/good game against Hawthorn, but how many players with only a handful of senior games with us do we want to play when we take on the reigning premiers? Turner, Brown, Wood have all have had very few games (though Turner and Brown have shown they can handle the pressure) and Waite and Higgins have only played a handful of games with us as well, then you can add Taz only having a couple of games experience with the back 6.

While some people don't rate Jmac, it's hard to deny that he does show leadership and has good experience both with our systems/structures and playing against Hawthorn.

I think this is one of the handful of games where team structures and experience matter most of all. The whole being greater than the sum of its parts kind of thing.

But once again, as Johnny99 said, I wouldn't be surprised if Dumont was a late in. Even if he'd have gotten donuts last week, I think he's quality. Really hoping we get some pen on paper soon.

Should have played this week, we need as much midfield help as possible but hopefully we can still get the job done.

He showed more quality in one quarter than some of our senior players have over four games.

Excellent response also to his off field drama to work his way back.

Full credit to him.

Fair chance he'll get a game in Tassie next week. Especially if it's wet
Weather last week or so has been Okay 1 night of rain but nothing huge.

Not to say that won't change over the next week of course... I mean its the weather after all.

I wonder if him playing no footy at all over the weekend will hurt his chances. If he plays he has to play a full game, they wouldn't want him to be sub again.

Bring him in and let him know he has five games in or whatever. I think giving a young player one game then dropping them dents confidence.
What if they were told it was going to happen before they even played? Like "We're gonna bring you in, give you a taste so you can see the standard that's required. Then you go back to the VFL and play at that standard and we'll bring you back in ready to go." Getting dropped doesn't mean he'll think it was because he's not good enough. Getting spanked by a rampaging Hawthorn might dent your confidence though.

I'd rather develop a player like Dumont by exposing him to consecutive senior games, than give older players games who are taking us nowhere.
