Looked pretty puffed in the second quarter. Unsure it was good enough to get a rising star nom, but would at least open some media eyes to him

Have to drop Basti to make this work, adding Swallow and Dumont means even slower mid group.
Swallow, JZ, Cunners and Dumont is too slow for mine - not sure how we'll make it work.

Dumont's game was great, but he was exposed defensively a few times. Got left in the wake of fast breaks a few times. That said with the stats he's getting and use of the ball, which should only get better/ higher, he's giving quality ball which offsets that. Sam Mitchell doesnt have the fastest wheels going around either.

With Dumont coming in it means we can play Ziebell and Cunnington forward again. We haven't been able to do that science Greenwood left and all our injuries. We didn't look too slow for the first half today

Must. Play. Rest. Of. Season.
Yep. Get games into the kid now he's proven he belongs at the level, just as the games were afforded JZ and Cunners back in their early days.

Froggy's name pencilled on the team sheet should now be overwritten in permanent marker.

He was great. A real hard edge and, has good instincts. When he picks up the ball he has an awareness of what he wants to do with it already. So many of our blokes don't have that, that's why they get into trouble in close so much. You can see Dumont thinking a bit ahead, which is fantastic for such an inexperienced player.

I agree, keep him in. He's exactly the sort of player we need, plus he'll improve quickly with games into him.

Unlike many others he appears calm in the storm rather than dear in the headlights - must keep (but will be the sub next week)

Well we don't have pace anywhere so for this season it probably isn't going to be a big issue. Gee our list management has some issues.

That being said, he doesn't mind running through the pack with the footy. Similar to Pendlebury, where time just seems to slow down when he's taking on three players. That sort of contested ball (vs JZ getting tackled and slamming it onto his boot) opens the game up as much as outside run does.

Knowing this I still don't understand why it's taken so long for him to be given a decent chance.

Should never have been dropped to start with either.
A part of me wonders if someone in the selection panel has been examining Froggy's games in the VFL and concluding "Yeah, but it's only the VFL. He's not ready for the AFL yet." Good sides select kids who deserve a spot due to such domination at the lower level, as Froggy was doing last year, and they do so without fear. Hell, the Colliwobbles have done so for many years and their kids generally kick on. Anyway, at least he's in now and I hope he remains.

A fair effort to blanket Pendlebury. There's our answer to Levi's departure.
And he has that little drop the shoulder baulk that he tries a bit same as Pendlebury. Not that he is in the same class but shows a bit of self-belief. Lets hope Garner can get himself right - he has similar agility as SP.

Ten f***ing tackles in 68% TOG is a great result. That's more than Carlton's entire midfield would get in half a game of footy.

This kid's a beast with the type of "give me the footy in the big moments" temperament that is sadly lacking in our so-called leaders. He simply has to play seniors for the rest of the year.

2 things with Froggy. He is a smart footballer, seems to have good awareness of what's going on around him and makes good decisions. And goes really hard. Was happily surprised by the intensity he showed at the contest. Literally threw himself in on many occasions.

And to keep Pendlebury relatively quiet, to boot, is a great effort for his first full game.
