Welcome to the Season 40 Heritage Round: a time where we can sit back and reflect upon the past 24 years of Sweet. It has come a long way since Mobbs contrived this league in his basement, before finally releasing this iteration here on BigFooty. It has evolved substantially over time, from bare-bones introductions and sim outputs in the early seasons, to something that has inspired everything from podcasts, games, friendships. and some of the most creative media one could imagine.
2,300 players have played in the league, with over 118,000 goals having been kicked, just shy of 2 million disposals effected, and an untold number of match thread pages cobbled together by the participants.
Heritage Round gives us a platform to discuss amongst ourselves the joy (and heartbreak) this league has brought us, whilst also being able to regale some of the incredible moments - both on field and off - during our respective qareers.

- The Roys joined the league in Season 3, with only the Demons and Wonders having been in Sweet for a longer period of time.
- The Gold City Royals joined the league in Season 16, after dabbling with names such as the "Kings", "Rebels" and "Arrows".
- The Roys have won three premierships, with the most recent in Season 33.
- The Royals won their only premiership in Season 30.
- A Roy is a gorilla.
- The Royals have historically placed a great emphasis on a good breeding program to ensure on field success. Season 40 would suggest that they are currently in a late-stage Hapsburg-esque reign given the current state of their list.
- The Roys have won nine of the past twelve encounters between these two clubs.

GOLD CITY ROYALS
Currently in 13th place (2-10) with two games remaining. The Royals are out of finals contention, but they can still have a chance of avoiding the wooden spoon with wins in their last two games.
