Had 8 touches in the 3rd and another 8 in the 4th.
Definitely one of our best after half time and one of the main reasons we got back in the game.

Almost killing off Bailey Scott’s career at North in the process.

So, does Bailey become depth or trade bait?

And does Stephens become a plus for our recruiters?

I know this guy is much maligned on here for not being tough enough, but I think he'll be one of the big improvers on the list this year.
Good call back in February DesertRoo

I’m not suggesting he’s Keith Grieg but has put together a solid and improving block. Essendon game needs to be the standard now.

If he’s depth you’d think he’d walk to the Suns at the next opportunity

Had his best game for the club last night, easily.

One thing that shits me, however, is how one sided he is. Ran himself into trouble on 3 or more occasions because he couldn't handball or kick on his right side. Needs to iron that out of his game, otherwise oppositions will quickly take advantage of it (like they did with Polec).

If you watch him carefully his weakness in contests when the ball is there to be won still costs us. He was good apart from that yesterday but that may the difference between winning and losing (along with a dozen other things.)

Trade bait?

I have been a pretty ardent supporter of Bailey but he would be worth a little bit of linament and a speaker for the pre game doof doof.

Depths of despair more like it with his form drop off this year. Was like a lost kid at the Show last night looking for his Mummy. 3 touches in 60 mins of football.

I agree with this - even though I thought that was his best game off a block of good games. I will say that the odd player with some weakness in the contest is 100% something you can carry. Just not too many of them, if he wants to hit bullet passes whilst his team mates are standing their with their fingers up their arses before going 40m down the line to a 5v5 contest then I'm okay with that - as long as we don't put too much softness around him.

good game last night. He’s is the least of our worries. Bailey Scott - what has happened to him? Luke McDonald…. Kicking to Parker and 2m Peter in a contest 😂 Toby Pink to come in for him surely.

Fair enough.

I thought he was heaps better too but he just lacked intensity at the ball on those occasions I was talking about.

Credit to Dylan for working on his game and seeing some results. A lot of players drop their heads when things don't go their way. He's had many critics but the coaching team saw something and kept playing him. I think he's a confidence player. He didn't get much of a look in at Sydney and seriously struggled with us in the early stages. If he starts to believe in himself he has the tools to become a seriously good footballer 🤞

Not saying he is "there" a walk up start or whether he will be there in 18 months. Just that he is putting in enough of a shift now and delivering skills that we desperately are lacking in. The minute someone harder comes along that can remotely put the ball to a team mates advantage I'll pack his bags if he hasn't improved.

I expect more, but if this is his baseline I'm comfortable we can make a useful player out of him with some improvement.
