It seemed a bit vague, they said he could play again after the Bye. Was that 7-8 weeks of recovery and then building up fitness to play round 13/14, or he wont start training to play until round 13/14?

If its the latter I doubt he gets back this year, or if he does it wont be for a significant number of games.
He might make it in time for finals though

It will only make his Norm Smith all the more better.
Might make his year as premiership captain next year even more remarkable. Has a captain actually won the brownlow, 2 norm smiths, coleman and premiership all the while coming of an injury to the flexor retinaculum in the ankle before?

Unique.

In all seriousness, getting Lav and Francis on the park will do so much to add to the top end quality of youngsters we have in the team. Add them to Zerret, Parish, Langford, Fantasia, Daniher and McGrath. Hopefully in 10 years time, people will talk about our group like they do for the likes of Hodge, Lewis, Mitchell, Rioli, Roughead at Hawthorn.

Not literally 4 time premiership players in that sense, but rather a core group of players the underpin the success of the team.
Yup, like Riewoldt, Hayes, Dal Santo and Montagna. Don't have to be a premiership team to be the nuclei of a very good team.
To be real, because of the AFL created monstrosities, the Giants and Swans, we may not get our chance over the next 10 years.

Well there's some silver lining for the surgery I guess...?

http://www.essendonfc.com.au/news/2017-03-21/injury-update-march-21

The decision to send Jayden Laverde in for surgery appears to have paid off with doctors uncovering damage that couldn’t be picked up in the original scan.

The length of time he'll be sidelined remains the same with the Club targeting a mid-season return.

“We deliberated for a while about whether Jayden would be better off going in a boot and having conservative management or having surgery,” Crow said.

“He had his surgery this morning and the news from the operation was that something that couldn’t quite be seen on the scan was a rupture of his medial ligament in his ankle.

“So that’s been repaired and we definitely dodged a bullet there.

“That’s a pleasing result because that certainly did need to be operated on.”
