Re: 2010 National Draft selection no. 54 - Jordan Schroder

If he's this good then how did he slip to 54?

Probably tested poorly on all the speed/agility/endurance tests and is shortish. Plus all that handpassing didn't show much.

Re: 2010 National Draft selection no. 54 - Jordan Schroder

i was very fortunate to play all my junior footy with this kid, along with Luke Mitchell (Carlton) Mitch Wallis and Tom Libretore(Western Bulldogs).
All 4 played in the same u16 premeirship team, and as the hype has followed the other 3, shroeder has quietly achieved under the radar, he has the class of wallis, the detemination of libba, and the marking capabilities of mitchell, this is a player not to be taken lightly, resembles a chapmen/bartel player, and will force his way into the senior squad this year. deadly on both feet, with a very big leap will damage any opponent. On several occasion he has kicked 10 goals playing from the midfeild, and this year kicked a set shot barrel from 70m out, which sailed straight through the middle of the big sticks.
watch out for this kid, he will be something special.

A player can be overlooked among so many similar types, and the names of the others seem to push them forward, but, like, if he kicked 10 from the midfield in U16, then that's what he did.

I'm gonna pay attention to the kids progress, he may well be better than we imagine.
Another Selwood?

I really do not know why - but I think this guy could turn out to be a good one.

Like the tougher, rugged players - they just seem to add something to the team - even if not as skilled as some other players.

I agree , something about his physique and approach to the game spells potential " cult figure" to me.
Got a feeling Scott will identify with his attributes and know where and how to use him to advantage.

He is a solid unit imagine him after he has had a few pre season's in the gym under his belt.

Does seem to have the makings of a cult hero but need to find a nickname for him though

Yep. He reminds me of someone. He will be a good looking lad when he loses that hair.

Definately goes under the wing of either Joel, and or Paul.
Think Wells used the 54 pick beautifully, now that we got the big Walker in the rookie.
Nothing wrong with the credentials either, 3rd B+F at the Cannons, behind Guthrie, this was a good pick although I wanted Walker with 54, turned out in our favor the Wells way.
Jordan reminds me of that similarly built guy a couple of drafts ago, forget his name, but this bloke is the real deal, he can play.

Someone beet me to it but I think Shredder has it! Just think when he kicks his first goal the music belting out the speaker could be by The Knack - "My Shroder".

THE queue to break into Geelong’s midfield is longer than the checkout line at the supermarket on shopping day. It was a situation not lost on Jordan Schroder as he took his first steps in the AFL system after being drafted with the 54th pick by the Cats last year as a promising midfielder.

“There’s a bit queue. But it’s better to be able to play other positions. It’s a bit hard to get a game if you can only play the one position.” Indeed, Schroder has gone a fair way towards showing he is a capable forward, bagging 23 goals to be the Cats leading VFL scorer with one game left in the season.
