I think Brad has had some issues himself with the shinboner way, I think that's why he loved Dal santo so much, he played the non shinboner way.

Discarded Roo Nick Dal Santo is unlikely to play on in 2017.

"I never say never, but I envisage that Nick's got a really good career, whether that's in footy or in media," Petroro said.

"It would have to take a compelling position at a football club for Nick to play on."

Dal Santo played 322 games for St Kilda and North Melbourne. At 32, he averaged just shy of 25 disposals per game this season.

After 15 years of highs and lows, I can now say that this chapter of my life is behind me. With mixed emotions and lots of processing, I’m excited about what’s ahead. Combinations of media, coaching and corporate are the areas I’ll focus on going forward. I have learnt so much from my time in the game and those who I’ve encountered on the way, which has put me in a great position to prepare for what’s ahead.

I’d like to sincerely thank the St. Kilda F.C and North Melbourne F.C, along with all the dedicated supporters, for allowing me to play the game I love for 15 years. I’ve had great guidance, encouragement and opportunity from Stride Sports Management. During this time, I also have been privileged to be sponsored and supported by Puma, Brighton Mazda and Drummond Golf.

To my four coaches who have each taught me something different; Grant Thomas, Scott Watters, Brad Scott and a special mention to Ross Lyon, thank you. Most importantly, the teammates I have shared this journey with – our friendships go beyond the field. And of course, thank you to those who have shared every step with me, Julie, Jude, family and friends, the unconditional love and support will always be appreciated.

As a 17-year-old leaving Bendigo I never imagined this is where football would take me and give me the life it has. I will forever be grateful.

Well done to NDS. Been a pleasure having you don the mighty blue and white 62 times. I have a NDS signed #15 jumper that I will hold onto for the rest of my life :)

FORMER North Melbourne and St Kilda footballer Nick Dal Santo as been named as one of the new coaches for the NAB AFL Academy.

Dal Santo, who finished his AFL career in 2016 after 322 games, will be the specialist kicking coach as the 2017 Level two academy head off to Northern Territory this weekend.

2017 AFL ACADEMY SQUADS

Dal Santo will coach alongside Brisbane Lions three-time premiership player Luke Power, who was announced as the new head coach in October, taking over from Brenton Sanderson who will work as an assistant coach under Nathan Buckley at Collingwood.

Dal Santo this morning announced that he would be taking up a role with the AFL Academy at La Trobe University’s athlete well being breakfast put on together with the AFL Players’ Association.

During his playing career, Dal Santo developed a kicking academy – in his name. The academy specialises in the area of kicking, involving specific analysis and skill development.

Dal Santo’s exquisite left boot was one of his strengths and he believes that it is an area of focus that needs to be addressed.

“I always though kicking wasn’t touched on enough,” Dal Santo said.

“There’s a lot of room for improvement.”

Dal Santo himself was apart of the intake of the NAB AFL Academy back in 1999 and in more recent times has worked with possible number one draft pick Andrew McGrath on his kicking.

Dal Santo's had a bit of a crack at Wells. I can't find the audio clip but basically says he was surprised Collingwood recruited him. Also had a crack about him not training hard enough or coping with injury.

I've noticed Dal has had a few things to say about North. Reckon he's going to annoy a lot of people in his quest to find relevancy in the afl media.
