Sam Wicks

Sam Wicks is a small forward with tidy skills below his knees and an outstanding awareness around goal. The QBE Sydney Swans Academy product was rookie-listed in November 2018 and was a consistent stand-out for the Sydney Swans’ NEAFL side in 2019. He became Sydney's fifth debutant of season 2020 when he was named to face Collingwood in Round 10, before finishing the season with seven appearances to his name. Wicks heads into 2021 fighting names like Tom Papley, Ben Ronke, Lewis Taylor and Sam Gray for a spot in Sydney’s best 22.

Sam Wicks

Probably the most composed I’ve seen him play . Again, at times it was a bit of a training run but we can only play who’s in front of us. In saying that , he seemed to make the right decision time after time. Very impressive game
The thing that really struck me was how often he accelerated into space. Gave him time to do a lot more with his delivery and he found a target more often than not.

as i posted elsewhere, wicks seemed to play a blakey role, launching from defence, free to take on players ... he's faster than i thought and his delivery seemed excellent ... and it did not detract at all his defensive role
he really showed there's far more to his game, great to see

I see that incredible goal and I think of the Ferrari in the garage analogy.
Give him more license to thrill coach !

I’m enjoying the moment before the next Nick Watson, kosie Pickett Or shai Bolton shows up and it’s lockdown mode again!
You mustn't be able to wipe the smile from your face Ralphy, your boy is playing some absolutely wonderful football. He's certainly found his place.

opposition coaches might need to put a bit more thought into your lad as the season progresses ... meanwhile, bring on those fancy dans, let 'em feel the warmth of a sam wicks tackle on a cold night
