Aiden Bonar looks set to participate in next week’s VFL clash with Essendon, as he continues his recovery from an ankle injury suffered in Round 8 against Collingwood.

“'Bon' is tracking well with his rehab and he’s training with the main group. The plan is at this stage to give him some minutes in the VFL next week,” GM Football Brady Rawlings told North Media.

“He’s missed quite a number of weeks so we’ll clearly have to progress him through the VFL.

“The discussion surrounding how many minutes he plays will no doubt occur next week.”

If Hayden and Perez get extensions, alarm bells would have to be going off for Atley.

Interestingly. What are the position differences between young and bonars positions?

Was a beast until injury. Probably the most improved early doors under Noble until this second half of the season resurgence.

Big part of the future.
fair point; barring the night with de Goey, Bonar's performances were going the right way when the team was under water

Definitely think Bonar is more of a genuine strong lockdown player that occasionally rebounds, whilst Young seems more of an oversized HB flanker to me.

Bonar is a genuine lockdown medium defender that can also play on the fast medium forwards and big enough to switch out on the KPP's during game situations.

Young is a rebounding defender that is decent in the air and can intercept.

I don't think Young has anywhere near the defensive potential of Bonar, who can play on anyone from small forwards to KPP types.

Bonar is an athletic freak. He's basically building to be a Spud Firrito, with pace.
