Interesting that the bidding teams contacted Austin before making the bid

I feel like a few let Ben slide a little, and perhaps the Lucas bid was organised so that we could get him on the senior list and made it seem another team wanted him. They could have been genuine bids that the teams were prepared to run with though. Just a feeling.

Someone mentioned it in an earlier post, but I agree that Ben could be something pretty special...he seems to have 'it', whatever 'it' looks like....

It's a bit surprising he hasn't been given more accolades by the media football 'experts', although being a F/S may have taken the spotlight off him a little given he was going to end up in navy blue...just a matter of what pick.

• Won the 2024 John Halbert Award as the SA U18 MVP following the U18 National Championships;
• All Austrslian Honours this year following the U18 National Championships;
• Equal winner of the 2024 McCallum Tomkins Medal as the fairest and best in the SANFL U18 competition, despite only playing 6 games and getting the 3 votes in all of them (each of the other joint winners played in 17 games);
• Named best on ground in the 2023 AFL Futures Games, which also included names like Sid Draper, Leo Lombard, Jagga Smith, Finn O'Sullivan, Isaac Kako and Levi Ashcroft.

The only knock on him at the moment is his disposal.....but if he can clean that up, I reckon he could be anything.

We can scream these achievements from the rooftops now that we have him on board. No need to downplay him.

Ben and Lucas both seem like mature lads too. I'm hoping they end up the big wins in the draft.
