Will certainly play next year, hopefully he impresses. If he can make even as good an impact as Wright has I won't be complaining.

The better we do next year, the better this trade becomes.

For all those complaining in the other thread, if Geelong isn't top 4 next year then their first becomes overs, and if Smedts even becomes passable even on an interim basis then there is no bad here.

And if we come roundabout where we did this year, then after academy picks our second could be on the other side of 2.

So many focusing on the bad, the worst case scenario. How's this for the best; we retain the Geelong first, and they come 8th, while we come 11th off the back of the draftees from this year and last incrementally improving the list to make up for the lack of Gibbs, and we get Marchbank and Pickett for our second this year, allowing us to take 5 and 13 this year - Brodie and Scrimshaw - and providing us with 3 first round picks next year - Adelaide's, being between 15-18; Geelong's, being between 10-16, and ours.
