this kid is a good emblem for where our list is at.

i know the lid is well off at the moment, but i personally don't see us winning a flag until the likes of begley, ridley, redman, and francis have all made the transition from bright spark to week in, week out weapon. keen to see how far they can get this year but it's much more likely to happen in two to three i reckon.

can hooker and hurley still be part of that? hopefully it all comes together in 2020 rather than any later.

Looks like he'll be in full training this week and will be available for VFL round 1 against Frankston, likely on limited minutes.
Full training this week and next before a return (which lines up with VFL R1 as you say), according to the injury update;

Young Don Josh Begley will once again take part in the main session as he gets ever closer to an anticipated return after putting in the hard yards since his devastating ACL injury on Anzac Day last year.

“Josh has put in a lot of work over the whole pre-season, we’re getting in more and more work in with the whole group.

“He’ll be in the (main) group training tomorrow, we want to see him get through another week of group training this week and next before hopefully making his long-awaited return.”

By my calculations our injury list is currently situated at:

Begley (Knee): 1 week
Long (Shoulder): 1-2 weeks
Dea (Knee): 3 weeks
Hooker (calf): 3 weeks
Daniher (calf): 4 weeks
Mutch (ankle): ??? (Seemed to play VFL on the weekend, was in one of the photo's)

So if Longy gets up for round 1 of the VFL we could genuinely have 20 AFL player playing VFL round 1 (although Mozzie missing wouldn't surprise)

I usually plot it all into the spreadsheet. Not sure how you're counting weeks (VFL return I suppose?) but this is what I have;

Has Long as 1 week but is probably 2

Luckily for us Dea only misses 1 game of VFL due to a bye round 2, Hooker is looking like Good Friday, and Daniher maybe ANZAC Day

I never use that injury list lol, only the club's injury reports. Where do they even get their info? :think: It seems to be updated by a journalist, not from like an AFL database or something. At least from what I remember

limited game time in the VFL that is. :)
Young Bomber Josh Begley will make his long-awaited return to football this weekend after overcoming an ACL injury that derailed his 2018 season.

Begley suffered the significant injury on ANZAC Day last year and has worked tirelessly to get back on the park, which he will finally do in the VFL side’s opening home and away clash with Frankston on Sunday.

“We’re all excited to see Josh back, he’s put in a long, hard rehabilitation,” Essendon physical performance manager Justin Crow said on the SKINS Injury Update on Tuesday.

“He’s certainly done a lot of training recently and we’re expecting him to go and put his best foot forward in some limited game time against Frankston this weekend.”
