Fellow forward Josh Begley has looked sharp on the track as he continues to strengthen his knee following an ACL rupture on ANZAC Day this year.

“Josh Begley is now 27 weeks after his ACL injury. He’s building up high volumes of mostly straight-line training – he’s up around the nine or 10km session mark at the moment – we do that to get some foundation in.

“We’ll start layering in some change of direction and jumping and other functional movements over the next couple of months, and he’ll be looking to integrate with the group after Christmas.”

Hope the kid can break into the team after great form playing midfield in the VFL, but it’s not going to be easy perhaps mid or towards the later part of the season he may crack into the side.

I’m not sure he will though. It’s a tough ask with the depth we have going around now.

When he's fully fit and over the injury, I would like to see him playing forward again. Till then I agree, he should play midfield in the VFL.

Begley reminds me a little bit of Dane Swan - not sure why. Hope he turns out to be half as good hes still only 20 so plenty of time left for him to develop into a star!

He has come a long way body wise, no rush to move him into the midfield but wouldnt mind if he spends some time in the middle early on at VFL level to further improve that side of his game, eager to see how he goes if he gets a go in the JLT.

No more puppy fat on that frame, looks lean and strong. Hopefully his comeback is pretty much issue free and he can get some serious miles into his legs both during pre season and once the season kicks off

I'm really excited about Begley. An acl takes a bit to get over but he was one of our most promising kids before the injury. I think there are some people who have forgot just how good he is.
