Welcome to Leigh "The Anvil" Brown, despite the current sadness of losing Byron Pickett, l for one am stoked at getting the Anvil across to us, he can be moulded into something special, can play at either ends of the ground. Sometimes you have to give a bit to get a bit. Some might argue we gave too much, but with the added draft pick, its not a thought process l subscribe to.

Imagine this kid under the guidance of our own strong man, Glenn Archer. The change of environment might be good for Pickett too, he looked a bit stale towards the end of the season and at times a little disinterested.

For me this is a win win deal, obviously only time will tell us if l am correct. The extra draft choice is the unknown factor, imagine if we manage to draft well and that selection proves to be something special.

Good work Rooboys, and good luck Choppy at your new club.

Good post.

I am shattered to lose Byron, but rapt that my biggest worry (key backmen possies) has been alleviated.

Which draft pick did we get as a bonus?

Don't let the opinion of an Eagles fan fool you. To them, all their players are great and ours aren't :D

But seriously, Brown is a little slow but is a good mark and booming kick. He is a bit like a young Mick Martyn. He just didn't fit into our rotation. he was #5 3 years ago. With the right development, he will be a decent player.

pickett was dnt for us and good luck to him however i think keeping sinclair is te biggest positive thats come outof this club for a while. Brown will be good we need key backmen players whats done is done

Is he called the "Anvil" because he is hard or because (as I fear) he is so slow when he runs that it is like he is dragging an "anvil "behind him.

He is a good player....tall and solid. We need some one big to back into packs and take marks in defence....I wish people we give him some credit.

But, I do think choppy went to cheap....could have done better if his name was floated on friday to bait other clubs.

At least we got someone who is half a player as oppose to getting some dud from the draft and waiting years to find out.

Lets forget about the trade and concentrate on our new gun....
the deal has gone thru and even if u dont like it we will have to focus on the positives.....what does every1 no bout this kid and how do u think he will fit into JYD's new team......
SO far I have liked the little I have seen of him
was picked as a #5 pick a few years ago and is only 20 with over 60 games to his name......
played 22 games last year mostly as a backman but I think would also make a good foward kicking goals from 60 with sav......

Let's all get behind Arch's new apprentice.

With a couple years guidance from the toughest sob in the comp this big unit will learn how to use his body and shold be a very solid contributor in our backline.

Welcome To Arden St Leigh Brown & Michael Stevens- please enjoy your stay and have successful careers here.

Leigh Brown- I reckon he should lose about 3 kilos (that would take him to 98kgs) over the preseaso.. and that will hopefully give him a little (tiny) bit of extra speed

Go Roos

Leigh Brown, i look forward to watching you cracking open the heads of Maffew and Warren and some other prick that wears number 18 for years to come mate!

And Lil Stevo, no excuses now. You're "home" and in good company. Lets see what the fuss is about.

an·vil Pronunciation Key (nvl)
n.

1) A heavy block of iron or steel with a smooth, flat top on which metals are shaped by hammering.
2) Something resembling an anvil, as in shape or function.
3) The fixed jaw in a set of calipers against which an object to be measured is placed.
Anatomy. See incus.

well he is what 193cm and weighs about 101 kg something around there....would you want to run into it ?

I reckon its a good nickname :)

then we can give crowe or teague the nickname the "hammer" to go with the "anvil"

can just see the headlines in the future....the "hammer" and "anvil" a knock-out team

Brown is a big unit and has a bit of mongrel in him, just the sort of bloke we need to replace Mick. Bit of a concern about his fitness & weight though, there's been times when he has looked to be carrying a bit, Pickett-style.

Well it would be a change from farm animals:

e.g. Duck, Horse etc.

i reckon it'd be better:

Rod "the hammer" crowe - cause he has more mongrel
David "platinum" teague - cause he's all class

but eh shannon "bitch slap" watt, now that's brilliant, let's hope he can get a new nickname this year heh?

Thank goodness we play under the roof at the Dome. Any wet weather and we'll be displaying more rust than my bathroom plughole!

And after the failed concert attempt last year, with all these nicknames perhaps we could entice Metallica to perform!
